Stagecoach seem to be the principal operator in this area, so we remain with them for the time being to a larger settlement as we head to the Tanyard Brow bus stop where we board the 2317 Stagecoach Manchester service 204 to Hyde (Bus Station), arriving there at 2340 on Monday evening.

We now seem to be out of options so break for the night in Ashton under Lyne.

After a long run of Stagecoach buses, we now shift to First Manchester for the 0520 service 409 to Oldham Bus Station arriving at 0539 Tuesday morning.

Little confusion here. Some sources say it's the 185, some 186.

Either way we take this First service at 0725 to Huddersfield Town Centre, bus station (stand M) arriving at 0741 on Tuesday morning

There are certainly some interesting place names in this part of the world. I had considered terminating my previous move from Halifax in Friendly, just for the novelty of the name!

At 1210 we board the Holmeswood Coaches Ltd service 14 to Clitheroe Interchange arriving at 1220 Tuesday afternoon.

Following this game's maxim "it's not about having a rest", we take our one single opportunity for onward travel tonight.

At 2330 we continue on a First in Norfolk & Suffolk service 1 to Martham, Cess Road, arriving at 2339 Tuesday evening.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Indeed that was the last bus of the day and despite a plea to the driver for news of the next service, we are met with a wall of silence, so we resign ourselves to wait for the next available bus and we then eventually (rather stiffly and somewhat bleary-eyed) board the 0645 First in Norfolk and Suffolk service 1 to Hopton-on-Sea (Anglian Way) that arrives there at 0800 on Wednesday morning.
