I made no comment, fearing that some contestants might have wished to leave the island, not having the same intimate knowledge as others.

Since my last move is now invalid, I shall give it another go.
And since I can only find one bus route through yarmouth http://assets.goaheadbus.com/media/cms_page_media/25/iownetworkmap_apr13 3mm bleed-ol.pdf I shall wait half an hour and get on the next bus at 11:45, arriving at Alum Bay Needles Park at 12:07 on a Tuesday Afternoon.

Now an opportunity to travel across the old military road that runs across the southern island coastline, so we board the 1245 Southern Vectis "Island Coaster" service to Bembridge (Windmill) that arrives there at 1440 on Tuesday afternoon.

And we have a nice long wait before the next bus, the Southern Vectis route 8 from Bembridge Crossways to Ryde Bus station, leaving at 15:28 and arriving at 16:09 on a Tuesday afternoon.

Fulfilling another ambition to see a Royal palace...or at least the area where it stands...we next board the 1700 Southern Vectis service 4 to Osborne House (Main Entrance) that arrives there at 1719 on Tuesday afternoon.


Don't forget that East Cowes with its chain ferry across to Cowes is only a short distance away on the same bus service.

Sadly Osbourne house closes at six, so our visit is only a flying stop. We therefore board the next bus, the Southern Vectis service 4 at 18:20, arriving at East Cowes at 18:24 on a Tuesday evening.

We are totally and utterly devastated to find that the Chain Ferry/Floating Bridge is closed for essential maintenance from 22nd April to 2nd May in time for the summer holiday season, so we return to the bus stop and board the 1850 Southern Vectis service 5 to Fairlee (Medina Leisure Centre) that arrives there at 1901 on Tuesday evening.

Heading downwards into the island via the eastern areas, we next board the Southern Vectis service 3 to Rookley (Rookley Old School) that arrives there at 2053 on Tuesday evening.

Having explored as much of the island as we can, we then board the 2120 Southern Vectis service 3 back to Ryde (Bus Station), arriving there at 2235 on Tuesday evening.

Noting that some visitors have more travelling stamina than others, we next board the 2255 Southern Vectis service 3 to Wroxall (Church) that arrives there at 2352 on Tuesday evening.

We carry on our way by boarding the Southern Victus route 3 service at 0022 and taking it all the way to Newport (Bus station) arriving at 0044 Wednesday morning


I am starting to see why trips to islands such as the IOW were off limits in the old version of this game

I like this battle of the IOW though. It's somewhere we haven't been before and i'm sure we'll get off... one day!

I of course could have in my above move, took us back to Ryde but I try not to retrace the last poster's steps if possible.

Sadly, we have missed the last bus of the night from Newport bus station, although amazingly if this was a friday night we could have continued for a few more hours!!! The IOW does have a remarkably good bus service along core routes.

Anyway the next morning we head off on the first bus of the day to Cowes. This is the Southern Vectis route 1, departing 0510, arriving at Cowes co-op at 0521 on a Wednesday morning.

We next board the 0600 Southern Vectis service 1 to St. Mary's Hospital that arrives there at 0610 on Wednesday morning.

After some breakfast we board the 0643 Southern Vectis service 1 on the return journey, arriving at the Cowes Red Jet terminal at 0659 on a Wednesday morning.

To be the one who took us to the Island and the one who stole us back to the mainland... I board the 0715 Red Jet service to Southampton (Town Quay) Red Jet terminal, arriving twenty five minutes later at 0740 this Wednesday Morning.

No problems whatsoever. We have all had a masterclass in the routes of Southern Vectis in our first allowed visit to the island. I in particular was able to recreate many fondly-remembered bus journeys using the ENCTS card.

Back on the mainland, we start with the furthest reaches of our walking capabilities by walking the half a mile to the hanover building, before boarding the 0805 (during the school holidays) bluestar route 1 service to St Cross, bell inn, winchester, arriving at 0855 on a wednesday morning

As much as I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Isle of Wight, I must admit that after fourty-four journeys and three days of travelling, it did start to go round in circles after a while and I think it was time to head back to the main land!

We then board the 0920 Bluestar service 1 to Winchester (Bus Station), arriving there at 0935 on Wednesday morning.

We then decide to head over to Winchester train station and wait there before catching the 10:31 XC service to Manchester Piccadilly getting there at 14:38 on Wednesday Afternoon.

We then exit the airport and board the 2009 Stagecoach Manchester service 43 to Sharston (Longley Lane), arriving there at 2027 on Wednesday evening.

Continuing onwards by another service, we next board the 2035 Stagecoach Manchester service 105 to Moss Side (Princess Road/Claremont Road) that arrives there at 2054 on Wednesday evening.
