After deep research, I can't seem to find any other bus or train service at this time of the night, so we check into a hotel and the following morning we change bus operators, boarding the 0621 First Manchester service 100 to the Trafford Centre (Bus Station), arriving there at 0645 on Thursday morning.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
I see that you have found the area of the Cross City line in your "chocolate" job at Bourneville, so I now expect to find intimate bus service knowledge now occurring in postings concerning that area of the West Midlands

Taking the short walk to the bus stop on School Road, we next board the 1416 NXWM service 3 to Billesley (Brook Lane fire station on Yardley Wood Road) that arrives there at 1428 on Thursday afternoon.

We then wait until 1708, before boading the NX East Midland route 74, ariving at Dudley Bus station at 1808 on a Thursday Evening

We had this wait because the timetable actually says "at frequent intervals" during the day, so I felt I couldn't give an accurate time, what should one do in this case, and have I made an error in waiting until the schedule gave a definative time?

It might be worth looking at the times before it says "at frequent intervals" to get an idea of how often the service might be. ie, if the set of times shows the journey, for the last journey before "frequent intervals" starts, to start at 10:00 and the service before that is as 09:50 then you might expect the service to be every 10mins through out the day. Some timetables do show times before and after the "at frequent intervals" section of the timetable to give an idea of how often the buses are during that time.

It might not always be the case but that's what I'd look at.

It's really vague when timetables say this. However, if you use sites such as Traveline West Midlands, they will list the exact times of every single service from every single stop, regardless of how frequent or infrequent the particular service runs.

We then board the 1815 National Express West Midlands service 222 to Merry Hill (Bus Station), arriving there at 1851 on Thursday evening.

Thank heaven for that. I was wondering what had occurred when I made my earlier posting, which then you then followed up with a posting statement that really worried me at the time...

No it's fine, I just wondered why we went Dudley - Merry Hill - Dudley. It's perfectly valid, but was curious for the doubling-back :)

Problem with that is an issue we had the pervious version of the game in that Traveline and the operates own timetables don't always agree with their information. One person would make a journey using times/stops on Traveline which would fail to correspond to those shown on the operators timetable. I seem to recall, on the previous version, that it was decided which one of the two sources of information was always to be used, as this saved on the confusion when this problem occurred

Our next journey involves yet another NXWM bus, this time the 0839 service 997 to Perry Barr (Wellhead Road), arriving there at 0937 on Friday morning.

I can't find a Wellhead Road, just a Wellhead Lane in the Perry Barr area. I assume this is were we are? If so we make the following journey:

We wait at the stop 'Perry Barr, Wellhead Lane (opp)' before boarding the 09:42 Joe's Travel service 11A to Handsworth, Soho Road (Stop HB), arriving at 09:58 Friday morning.
