That's an invalid move, we arrived at 21:55 so we cannot depart until 22:00 at the earliest. So we are STILL at Bognor Regis, Butlins at 21:55 on Thursday Evening and with that I'm going inside to find the bar and get a drink.

We restart again later in Friday morning on the 0946 GWR service from Chichester Rail Station after a short walk from the bus station. We alight at Bath Spa at 1210.

You shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time.

• Night services in the UK can be quite limited, so when the previous move arrives at its destination after 2300 you are allowed to wait until 0500 the next day if you wish.

The next valid departure from Chichester station is 22:59, plenty of trains at that time (according to Brtimes.com)

Hang on, no where in the rules does it say that the above isn’t allowed. Could you please explain what is the problem this time?

Hi TT-ONR-NRN,

This time it's the rule:

Although, in fairness, lots of other players struggle with that rule, as demonstrated by a long list of PMs in my inbox!

The rule is designed to prevent unnecessary long waits. For example, it stops people from waiting from 6pm til 8am to get a train from Victoria to East Croydon when there are more than 80 other trains that could make that exact same move sooner.

Your move probably falls foul of it, as we're still before the (completely arbitrary) deadline of 2300 and there are a couple more trains it's possible to get. I do think it's a little unfair to enforce it here, but there we are!

Maybe we could take the 2259 to Portsmouth?
