There being no other way of escaping our current locale other than the service we just arrived on; we sprint up Fairbrook Road to Standbridge Lane (Standbridge Garth); hoping desperately for a means of escape. As if by magic; the Globe Holidays of Barnsley 96 wafts into view at 09:15. After a journey pondering if Globe Holidays offer any more exotic destinations than Barnsley (Wombwell; for instance); we see an Aldi out of our left window. Being unable to resist some mass produced food substitute we alight at Gawber (Barugh Green Road/adj Claycliffe avenue) at 09:43 on this Wednesday morning

Seeking something on rails for the first time since yesterday; we march over to the rail part of Barnsley Interchange. Alas it's the booked 142 that greets us on 2L23 (with departure of 10:24) and having had our bone marrow vibrated about as much as we can stand we alight at Meadowhall at 10:45 on this Wednesday morning

The walk to Conisbrough station is 0.6 miles away which is just over the permitted limit of 0.5 miles but it's okay for now :)

Waiting for the 16:30 East Midlands Train service to York, you are are dismayed to see a Meridian not an HST and you wish you got the 16:25 but you missed it as you got a coffee. (To add insult to injury, you discover it was a tea anyway!) You get off at Loughborough, the next station, after 10 minutes of torture, though you do admit it wasn't as bad as the food from Aldi!

This is 16:40 Wednesday at Loughborough!

The only service from these parts is the Kinchbus 9 Service so after half an hour wait in Bunny we hop back on the 17:30 service as far as Trent Bridge, o/s County Hall where we arrive at 17:46 on Wednesday evening.

Anyone for Cricket?

Realising that we don't have time for cricket (oh darn, what a shame), we flag down the 17:55 Nottingham City Transport Navy line 2 service to Nottingham Railway Station (Stop S6). We arrive there bang on time at 18:01 Wednesday Evening.

Stirred and enlivened by Nicholas Owen shouting at us for the past hour; we are ready for further enjoyment. In search of thrills we; of course; head for Orpington on 2M60 (the 0021 Southeastern service); arriving into that particular den of iniquity at 00:37 on Thursday morning

Get the 00:51 London Bus N199 to Trafalgar Square (Stop K), and get off there 100 stops later (luckly you didn't actually have to stop at them all) at 02:15 Thursday, and wonder how long the night is!

That particular service arrives at Waterloo at 0517. I did think seven minutes from Dulwich Library was a bit optimistic!

From Waterloo Road we board the 0538 Abellio London service 188 to North Greenwich Station, arriving there at 0621 on Thursday morning.
