We next board the 0845 First Portsmouth, Fareham & Gosport service X5 to Lee-on-the-Solent (Esmonde Close on Fell Drive) that arrives there at 1015 on Saturday morning,
We next board the 1037 First Portsmouth, Fareham & Gosport Solent Ranger service X5 to Fareham (Bus Station), arriving there at 1104 on Saturday morning.
A two minute walk takes us to Gosport Ferry Terminal, where we board the Gosport Ferry at 1215. We alight at Portsmouth Harbour Station Pier at 1222 on Saturday.
Having been defeated in lining us up to take the Hythe ferry, it is good to be able to use this one.
The ferry terminal for the Fishbourne ferry is about a ten minute walk from the station pier at Millennium Walkway, but its within the permitted 0.5 mile boundary so that's irrelevant.
However, we are in a most unusual predicament here, because upon arrival at Fishbourne there aren't any other modes of transport available! The 9 serves the main road, but that's almost fifteen minutes walk away and the only exception is two night services which stop outside the ferry terminal, so we have no choice other than return on the 1400 Wightlink Ferry service back to Portsmouth Station Pier (by Millennium Walkway), arriving there at 1445 on Saturday afternoon.
We head back to the Harbour Station Pier, whigh must be within the requisite distance as it was earlier, and I am genuinely confused what goes from here, as the Fishbourne ferry may well arrive and depart from different piers, according to bustimes. Hey Ho.
Anyway, from the station pier we return to the island on Wightlink Fastcat at 1515, alighting at Ryde Pier Head, Ferry Terminal at 1537 on Saturday.
So from outside the railway station is the ferry to Ryde, then the ferry to Fishbourne departs from by Millennium Walkway. The hovercraft departs from Southsea (to Ryde).
BUT, we're in another further pickle! There is no service between Pier Head and Esplanade until Spring 2023 due to engineering works, and the pier head stop is too far away from the buses!
Finally, we can move on; this has been a fraught handful of moves
Bus stop A on the Esplanade is a 3 mins walk from the station, but probably less from the rail replacement bus stop . There we catch Go South Coast, t/a Southern Vectis, service 9 at 1615; we alight at Newport, Bus Station at 1650 on Saturday.
We next board the 1941 Southern Vectis service 3 to Ryde (the bus stop adjacent to St John's church on Appleby Road) that arrives there at 2025 on Saturday evening.
Slightly too far from other services here, so we next board the 2050 Southern Vectis service 3 to Wroxhall (Village Church), arriving there at 2150 on Saturday evening.
Still no other service options at this late hour, so we next board the 2202 Southern Vectis service 3 to Brading (the bus stop opposite the cricket club on Rowborough Lane) that arrives there at 2248 on Saturday evening.
We could head back to Newport as the 3 and 9 both operate overnight, however, we've been everywhere that those routes run, so we take advantage of the overnight rule, and therefore have to move within 2 hours of the first available service after 5am (which is at 0605).
We therefore take the 0717 Island Line Rail Replacement Bus to Ryde Pier Head where we arrive at 0720 on Sunday morning.
We take the short walk to the bus station, which is next door to the ferry terminal. There we await First Portsmouth, Fareham & Gosport service X5 at 0914 from Stop F. We alight at Lee-on-the-Solent (West Point) at 0914 on Sunday.
We next board the 1457 Unilink service U1A to Swaythling (the bus stop opposite Mountpark on Wide Lane) that arrives there at 1507 on Sunday afternoon.
