She looks absolutely ecstatic doesn't she![]()
As the precise route and timings of the royal train is supposed to be kept secret shouldn't they have put a bag on her head until she boarded at King's Cross?
The old 1X01 number hasn't been used by the Royal Train for many years, it has a 1Zxx number like any other special passenger train. This way it does not attract attention.X has been used for the Royal Train.
Anyone else in first class that gets turfed out?!
That's the thing though. Nobody knows until she turns up. Same for her impromptu (to the general public) visits to the theatre etc.

Yes they do.
FCC will have been notified at least 24hrs in advance. A unit will have been selected for the service (one that's recently been through a heavy clean and has no open reliability issues) and a travelling fitter or RSI will be on board.
It used to be the trailer vehicle with the disabled toilet was LOOU for the use of HRH.
Various members of the royal family have been using 365's for years, including Prince Andrew.......
I rode in the back cab on one royal service back in the day and it was run as a normal service, no priority from signallers. The driver didn't even know he was driving a special until a DM and the route director turned up to ride up front with him.
wonder if she had a valid ticket, or FCC are prosecuting her yet?
X is only used if the train is out of gauge when travelling so according to the fantastic Realtime Trains website (cheap plug from the Mick Foley school of Cheap Plugs) it ran as it's booked head code which was 1T08.
91029/91129 was named "Queen Elizabeth II" during both Intercity and GNER days. I'm surprised that it is not a name that East Coast have reinstated, now that they have taken to naming their class 91s and power cars.I'm just glad she's avoided the overhead problems that have been plaguing us recently... Perhaps FCC should name a 365 for her? Although that would limit unit flexibility somewhat every year.
Or get a dedicated IEP if those come around! Wait, there's already a royal train![]()

I wonder how many other heads of state you'll see travelling like this?

In light of the BBC's Christmas message story this evening and the time of day HM Queen was travailing to Sandringham, does one deduce that the Xmas speech was recorded there?
Who cares what train she is on?![]()
Wonder if she used the on-board loo?
Prince Charles reckons she's spent far too much time on the throne already![]()
X has been used for the Royal Train.
It will still be 1Txx but with a note on it to the signaller and driver as far as I am aware.
I've definitely not been on it then!![]()
You ought to see the state that the commuters leave the trains in especially in the evenings, partly the fault of the blasted free papers though as well.
The trains just resemble rubbish bins with newspapers and other rubbish everywhere, not nice but unless you want cleaners on every FCC service in the peak which ain't possible the trains won't be clean because of the above
It's a problem more at weekends and evenings, or if a group have had a mini party on the train and deposited food and drink everywhere. Trains aren't held to be cleaned beyond stuffing things in a clear bag.
Buckingham Palace is thought to have booked all 12 seats in the rear compartment. A one-way ticket costs £50 — or £33 if the Queen had used a senior railcard.
