Virgin are doing a Foot-ex tomorrow with 46 for one of the major football teams (Players and staff only) travelling to Liverpool i believe.

Was it not Liverpool vs Arsenal?

Liverpool FC travelled south on a service train (one carriage chartered). Luis Suarez tweeted @VirginTrains with some pics of the lads on board! ;)

Not sure about the Pretendo and what that did last weekend.

Pretendo wasn't out last night - 90042 failed at the depot. Not sure about today's arrangements.

I saw it, the Pretendolino, this morning just north of Milton Keynes Central (bridge 169) travelling north on the Down Slow at about 11.29, and then again at approx. 12.23 travelling south on the Up Slow.
Lots of interesting stuff today - at about 16.39 on the Up Slow north of Bletchley, there was an FCC EMU travelling south.
And I also saw my first tampers, or similar, on the move. One going north and another going south.

Sorry to be a pain I can't find it in the thread, but is this still 1843 from Euston to Crewe? I cannot find it in the FGW search to book it!

Does the pretendolino still run the 1843? Any plans for it to go anytime soon?

I wouldn't say so, they must have higher priorities, such as using more 390s on BHM-EDB/GLC

its days must surely be numbered with 390055 wating in the wings?

As I have posted before, when 054 came out (and brought them back up to their allowed number of 390s), the loco hauled set didn't disappear all of a sudden!

If they are trying to cut down on Voyagers under-the-wires (ie. putting the new 390s on Birmingham - Scotland), I wonder if the 823xx DVTs retain TDM along with the new gear to work with 67s. If so, are there any Euston - Holyhead/Bangor services with a long dwell at Crewe or Chester that the Pretendolino could (almost) keep time on? If so, the long dwell could be used (moved to Crewe if it is currently at Chester) to swap the class 90 for a 67 if the DVT on the Pretendolino is an 823xx. There probablly isn't a suitable service to do that with though.

There is just no need for that

From what I read, the 055 390 and Pretendolino set will be used to substitute the existing 390 fleet during the 9 to 11 car upgrades and major overhauls that are due on the original 390 fleet (that should be complete before the franchise is up?).

They are going through the overhauls and having the 2 cars inserted at the same time, and I'm sure someone said the 11 cars wouldn't be inserted this franchise (so before the extension) so putting these together mean it will all be done during this franchise (incl the extension, but not before the 'franchise extension period' starts

The DVT only has TDM. Its usual 82126 with 82101 as the spare. No Virgin drivers currently sign class 67s so would be very expensive for one train.

First H3 exam starts in Febuary and first 11 car integration due in March. 390056 should also be with us in January.
