If you look at the new Saturday timetable, you will find there is a regular hourly non-stop service from Fairfield to Manchester Piccadilly

Is there a precedent either way for services which run at such frequencies during the weekend, but which are infrequent or nonexistent Mon-Fri?

I do take your point that abbreviations are not to be used, but a posting of Wigan W can only signify one station. That query should have been made immediately in the form of a query as to the validity of that posting.

clagmonster has not been on this thread snce 31st December 2012, so either Robinson or myself will have to put forward our adjudications on this matter. I have already made my point upon this matter.

In future, I would ask that the FULL station name be shown in all postings, as that matter has caused the current contretemps.

I am sending a PM to Robinson on this matter and would suggest a halt is called until he responds.

Either way, I've struck through the North Western, so we can carry on from Wallgate.

IIRC the decision was taken previously that the full station name was needed. Therefore I would suggest Wigan W shouldn't be valid. However, if we have carried on anyway, then I'm reluctant to drag it back.

Sorry for the delay in responding - I was looking up the timetable to see if Wigan North Western was actually still valid, as NRE was refusing to throw up the single service which I could remember calling at both...

You have raised a "bone of contention" here, as if two people wanted to make a simultaneous final posting to win a leg, it would surely be wrong for the winner to be the one with the abbreviation when the other contestant has posted the full correct name of the railway station.

At the start of a game, the OP(at the very beginning or if necessary) or the player who previously ended a leg of the journey, will choose a starting station (unless the player has called an ¡§open floor¡¨, in which any player can choose a starting station) that adheres to the following criteria:

1. It is on NR rails (or Merseyrail)
