If you look at the new Saturday timetable, you will find there is a regular hourly non-stop service from Fairfield to Manchester Piccadilly
Wigan Northwestern
Preston
None, and I'm going to ask if that Wallgate was valid because he shortened the station name - We had a massive debate about that a while back if I remember rightly
I do take your point that abbreviations are not to be used, but a posting of Wigan W can only signify one station. That query should have been made immediately in the form of a query as to the validity of that posting.

I am going to PM clagmonster to ask for an official line on abbreviations, because you could get some cases where the use of an abbreviation, such as Macc or Alty, both of which can only really refer to one station, being the last station of a leg, and therefore use of the abbreviation could be the difference between someone getting, or just missing out on points.
At the start of a game, the OP(at the very beginning or if necessary) or the player who previously ended a leg of the journey, will choose a starting station (unless the player has called an ¡§open floor¡¨, in which any player can choose a starting station) that adheres to the following criteria:
1. It is on NR rails (or Merseyrail)
