Well i PM'd the quiz masters and OxtedL said i should try it, at no point during my queries which were also handled by TransportPhoto did they say it wasn't allowed.
8. IN THE EVENT OF A WRONG ANSWER:
If a submission to the quiz is incorrect, but there have been no further posts, the author may edit their post, so long as the original is shown as crossed out. After striking through an incorect entry, you must use reply rather than edit to post your new entry. This aims to prevent confusion to allow for smooth proceedings.
1. How to play
At the start of a game, the OP(at the very beginning or if necessary) or the player who previously ended a leg of the journey, will choose a starting station (unless the player has called an ¡§open floor¡¨, in which any player can choose a starting station) that adheres to the following criteria:
« It is on NR rails (or Merseyrail)
« It is not just a terminal station.
« It is not the same station as the one which ended the previous leg.
Does this extract from the rules help ?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Shanklin is a terminal station.
Also, can we use the ferry at Ryde?
Yes sorry, it does have to actually have to be rail based and the connecting ferry can't be used even though a ticket would be valid. If the Isle of Wight is allowed then, this will be a very short game.I don't think that the ferry, even in the most wildest fantasy, can be described as "running on NR rails"
Next leg to start at Lake
Ryde St Johns Road
What fails to call at Smallbrook Junction?
...), so to get things moving again, I suggest:
I'm glad everyone has noticed that this is an apparently legal^ (although short) round.
Clearly either we have everything stopping at Smallbrook Junction, or everything not stopping. We have precedent on the Isle of Wight that it appears to count (special rules maybe...), so to get things moving again, I suggest:
<Smallbrook Junction>
I don't think it scores, but anyway do carry on, not far to go now...![]()

With regard to Smallbrook Junction, even in the summer, not everthing stops there. Early morning/late evening trains do not stop whatever time of year, so, in my view, either Trainfan's move to Smallbrook Junction is valid & therefore he wins, or it is not and my Ryde St Johns Road is the valid move, hence my request for adjucation.
I would be interested to know which posting shows the precedent you refer to as then I'll gladly shut up.![]()
I believe this is one instant.
Based on that, I believe you are the winner of the last round rather than Paul.
I would disagree, not just because I spent far more time with explanations and postings from the rules than some legs worth well over 100 points to the leg winner, which included the fact that Shanklin, originally given as a starting station but then subsequently edited to Lake as it was pointed ot that Shanklin is in fact a terminal station and not as such allowed under the rules (and done so without the accepted "striking-through" and reposting demanded by the rules), which then caused the following postings then to appear:-
# 34538...Sandown
# 34539...Brading
# 34544...Smallbrook Junction (with queries raised)
# 34546...Ryde St Johns Road
# 34550...Ryde Esplanade
# 34551...Ryde Pier Head
As far as I am aware, there are no other currently open stations on this line. Would you care to respond to my points raised above, as six points gained as the leg winner trouble me not one iota.
My point was that I had played Ryde St Johns Road on post 34540, which is a valid move as not all services are timetabled to stop at Smallbrook Junction, therefore, the now struck through posting by Trainfan @ 34543 was the winning move.
Let's ignore Smallbrook.
The issue here is that the order of the posts was muddled by confusion over what was valid. In an attempt to get things moving quickly again I made a post which is clearly intended to replace everything from 34540 onwards. I believe this is very obvious from the context, but I apologise for not being clearer - I'd forgotten how finicky some people sometimes are!
No need to be confused, nothing confusing has happened.
Smallbrook Junction will from here on inwards be invalid.
Paul won the leg.
Simples.
