Is the right answer. An arc in the graph theory sense of the word is simply a line between two nodes. There is no need for it to be curved, in fact that interpretation didn't even occur to me. I think we may need clarification as to what happens next.or Sileby (which is on a straight line on map AS, not an arc)...

I was trying to avoid saying that all services are operated by the same TOC as some people regard the northbound Newcastle-Glasgow services as operated by Northern throughout, rather than changing operator at Carlisle.Assuming I've understood that last clue correctly, let's try Gretna Green.
I think the Rainham rule was triggered in the confusion at Sileby, which was a similar circumstance to Rainham, so I think its over to you.
