Is the right answer. An arc in the graph theory sense of the word is simply a line between two nodes. There is no need for it to be curved, in fact that interpretation didn't even occur to me. I think we may need clarification as to what happens next.

No Penalties; I don't see why there should be. As for his calling Sileby though, he clearly states Sileby as an option, which unlike Aberdour is feasible - but on the other hand, he also says "I have no idea". In other words, I don't know

Is the correct answer. I was trying to avoid saying that all services are operated by the same TOC as some people regard the northbound Newcastle-Glasgow services as operated by Northern throughout, rather than changing operator at Carlisle.
