Clue 3:
If proper nouns were allowed, the two words in this station would score a combined 24 points in Scrabble, assuming no blank tiles were used and no special scoring spaces (eg double letter) were used.

I don't know. I've just double checked and I still get 24 for this particular station in its native countries language.

I have a funny feeling we're in Wales here.

OK, I've got an answer: Llantwit Major (Llanilltud Fawr; 5+1+1+1+5+3+2+1+2+1+1+1=24)

Is the wrong answer.

This station is a branch line terminus with one passenger train per day in each direction.
