As promised, I've allowed a reasonable amount of time and am now posting the answer, which is St Keyne Wishing Well Halt. As the keen eyed among you will spot, as I did when typing out the addition for the points for the explanation, I have buggered up the addinbg up (or made a typographical error in the clue). -3 for me it is then.

I had that almost straight away yesterday but discarded it on the grounds that it scores 42 on Scrabble. I then spent 2 hours trying to work out the correct answer. Two hours I'll never get back......... To have a poser dragging on for 5 days on the strength of a totally duff clue is pretty bad form IMHO.

St Keyne Wishing Well Halt.

That explains it. On the atlases I have, it is just listed as St Keyne Halt - which is what is was called when I travelled on the branch back in 1994.

PS I accept it is now called St Keyne Wishing Well Halt

Indeed, and for that I can only appologise. On such clues, I always do the arithmatic twice to check the answer, and in this case got the same answer both times. Whether it was a balls up in the arithmatic or a stupid typo I do not know.

This is one for Ivo, but I do wonder whether the penalty for a dud clue should be greater than that for a repeated answer. The former does seem to be a graver offence. Maybe somewhere in the order of -5.

A fair point. In light of the scoring system, it would have to be -6 (every value is a triangular number). I shall look into it.
