I considered Haymarket and forgot about platform 0, seeing as it didn't exist when I was last there.

I would say that precisely one of you is due a penalty (assuming there is nothing direct to Brum Intl - in which case it could be both). I woul consder it to be Gnolfe for a dud response with Hazel Grove.

XC,
East Coast

Direct bus to Edinburgh Airport (I trust there isn't one to another airport) and a direct train to Man Airport. Clearly electrified and north of Brum.

Virgin run a couple of direct services to Birmingham International (extensions to Euston). Therefore I have royally messed up the clue about trains serving 1 international airport.

It was obvious to me that Haymarket was the station you met, regardless of the controversies involved (e.g. Dyce). However, you should remember that, whilst VT do run EDB - EUS via BHI, these services are advertised as terminating at BHM.

Penalties? Sigh. That is all.

I'm meaninf that the font that my phone puts characters ou in shows A, M, N, W and Y as being curved, while my desktop shows them with straight edges

Oh OK. Fair enough. Going by the Verdana font used by the forum, the following have curves:

Remember, this is based on UPPER CASE letters. None of the letters you have identified would usually have curves in their UPPER CASE forms.

You've got muddled, B has curves so is disallowed. You essentially need to pick a letter which is not on Ivo's 21:52 list.

Why? It's nice and simple isn't it? If a font shows letters such as A and M as curved in UPPER CASE, or D and S and straight, then it is nonstandard and thus not applicable. But according to most/all usual fonts, the above list is accurate...
