It's the City of Light for us, as we wander over to the "French" terminal as we board the only non-orange plane on the tarmac, A57331 "Hop!" flight to Roissy, which also goes by the name of celebrated colonian fascist and silly hat wearer Charles de Gaulle. Leaving at the unseemly hour of 06:25; after a full speed snooze aboard the CRJ-1000 we arrive at 07:35 on Tuesday morning

Let's traverse some of that country then. First let's see the sea.

1010 comes and goes and our minimum half hour connection rule elapses.
We are already aboard our SNCB\NMBS train. It leaves at 1013 and forms IC 2333 to Oostende. Exactly three hours later we are at the Belgium coast, the time now is 1313 on Tuesday afternoon.

An hour to wait for the next train, so we can indeed see how the other half live. Having taken in the beach and the sports cars we muse on our walk back to the station how others may envy the residents of Knokke but the residents of Knokke are the envious ones, even all their money can't buy our golden ticket to traverse the globe in the only way possible, by public transport.

At 1536 we leave on IC 1615 and travel to Brugge arriving there 1559 on Tuesday afternoon.

We take the 1805 L1868 NMBS service to Geraardsbergen, arriving at 1853 on Tuesday evening.

A chance to look at the cyclists' Mecca, Het Muur van Geraardsbergen 'The Wall of Geraardsbergen' with its steep, narrow, cobbled incline.

The bus from De Panne doesn't arrive in Dunkerque until 09:58, so you will miss the 09:08.

Next train to Lille Flandres is at 10:37, arriving Lille at 11:44.
