I'm a serving Police Officer with Northants Police, 7 years in. Unfortunately a lot has changed for the worse and there are no signs of improvement. I could go on about my reasons for leaving but don't find it appropriate to post on here, but I'm sure you'll understand being in the job yourself!
I chose to be a train driver because I love travel, and most aspects of it. My father worked on the railways when I was a child, which sparked my interest in the railways. The salary, pension, benefits and hours are very attractive along with job security. I have no issues with working alone and I think I will be well suited to the job.
I just hope it's not too long now, I am extremely eager to get started.
I now know i will not be receiving a date until next year.
I spoke to them today as i am looking to book holiday in the next few weeks and did not want to miss a medical notification.
I believe that anyone in the talent pool who has still not completed their medical, will not be doing so until the new year.
All those who have already had theirs i would assume are in the first wave of recruits and should be allocated dates this year.
Please don't quote me on this, i'm just passing on information that may be comforting to the guys still waiting for medicals.
The uplifting bit of news is that i was told if your in the pool you will be offered a position. When is another matter, but it will happen.
At least now i can crack on with my current role without checking my emails every half hour.
