From hr when I rang the number posted here it mostly goes to answer phone, I've read of people being in a pool for around 12 months or so awhile back when it was fcc. There's people from January still in the system, I think the sheer size of this franchise, ultimately its a continual placement of pool candidates as and when needed. Aren't the new trains also to be phased in over 2016-2018.

Can anyone who has recently started tell me the anticipated length of the training course. I was under the impression that due to the sheer nos of those needed to train that they were looking to compress the course to less than 12.months.

They won't be compressing the course, it's not possible. It's 12 months minimum. Still a shortage of trainers and the group ahead of us has been put back a month due to this.

I'm about to start week four and still don't have a uniform, it seems that all departments are extremely busy and are still adjusting to the takeover. The course itself is good though, already been in the simulator which was good fun, just be prepared for a lot of study time!

Thanks the waiting and not knowing when dates are is not good, but at least there light at the end of the tunnel

Im one of the gang who applied Feb, had assessments Apr/May, DMI interview in June and then medical in July ( was originally June but canx due to a booking mix up )

Im also local to Bedford ( 2 train stops away ) so am also waiting for a Bedford course to come up

Hi new to the forum wondered if anyone can shed some light on the first week. I start at Bedford on 23rd and have a flight booked at Luton airport on the Friday 27th at 18:15, it was booked long before I got a start date. What sort of time have people been finishing on that first week particularly Friday? Just wondering wether I'm likely to make my flight. Been trying to contact gtr with no joy.

No I haven't spoken to HR (has anyone got through?)

This information was given to me privately and I was asked not to share but I just feel it's only fair to let people know rather than people getting excited on fridays and having false hope for 2015

Ah i see, as long as the courses start rolling in from start of 2016 then il be content... Now the worry is that early 2016 mite go to Easter 2016 and so on...we need some good solid facts from GTR as to how we stand

Yeah and some assurances that we will get courses before our results become null and void. Im hoping it wont come to that on the basis that they have spent a considerable amount of money just getting us to this stage.

Whats the timescale for that to happen? And is it from date of application or date of final assessment or date of DMI ?

i think from memory...(please dont quote me on this) three years from the date of passing the medical and the tests last for a set amount of time... not sure how long. So mine will be up in June 2018... plenty of time but i feel like i am unable to plan holidays in advance as i dont know when i will get a call/ email.
