no offence taken. life goes on:roll:
Sorry 47403, I was just joking around. Many times I've joked at my own expense about how I tend to use smilies on practically all of my posts.

I can't abide the sort of places that feel it necessary to serve food in beer glasses, I do wonder why they feel there is something wrong with using good old-fashioned plates and bowls. No hint of the ales being watered down when I was in there (Obviously Heineken is a very different proposition!); they were, in fact very well kept; but it's not the sort of place I expect to frequent due to the prices. It is at least good to see that Manchester Victoria now has a reasonable bar of sorts on the station since the refurbishment, even if not completely to my liking.Yes, it was indeed The Beerhouse... A rather strange place where they serve food in beer glasses, it would seem, and they water down the beer. I would not be visiting again until the place has changed vastly
I tend to stay away from the dead heavy or dark beers - It's amber bitters all the way for me.Tap is not bad at all, except the Yorkshire Blackout was a little too chocolatey to be honest... Although it seemed rather popular with some Americans that happened to be there.

Every time I'm sat in the York Tap, gazing up in admiration at the elaborate stained glass dome in the roof, it astounds me that such an impressive architectural jewel was hidden away for so many years behind the dark, dreary and run down decoration (or so it seemed to me the one time I went in there in the late nineties) of the York Model Railway.

My apologies for the delay in replying, been a busy few days!
Many congratulations on clearing the 142s! I'm only 25 behind you...Of course I never got those two that got scrapped.
Heineken, oh my you must have been desperate! That drink you had in York sounds funky though, next time I'm in York I shall have to investigate.
I never knew you did fanfiction. It's not exactly something I follow, admittedly I've never really looked into it. Have you considered sharing even a sample of some on here? You could discover a whole new group of followers!
Good call on the tablet, I type my trip reports up on one and it's so much easier, much better than several memo files on my phone. I'd like to find a Select All option for the Polaris Office 5 word processor though, much easier than trying to highlight it all and copy-paste. I shall probably get OpenOffice downloaded if possible before my next trip though!
The expected great read was had, I need to see if I'm following you on Twitter actually. If you've not got me, I'm @Techniquest2003![]()
I have a long flight soon so will want something to fill the time! Mind you I do have a book bought last year which I still haven't read...You could have tried pointing at your choice
I look forward to possibly reading some of your fan fictionI have a long flight soon so will want something to fill the time! Mind you I do have a book bought last year which I still haven't read...
They had a Chocolate Orange stout or some such on in the York Tap when I was in there yesterday afternoon. I didn't try it myself, but at 6% ABV it evidently had a bit of poke to it, too. That drink you had in York sounds funky though, next time I'm in York I shall have to investigate.
There's a good array of decent German beers that I'm quite partial to, although preferably when I'm in Germany. Otherwise I'd much rather be sat down with a decent pint of Best (brewery unspecified). A lot of the Belgian stuff is plain bloomin' weird, and I keep well away from it...On offer were some German beers, something looked French and a host of Belgium made stuff *shakes head* Why can't you find a good pint of Stone's Best any more?
not a fan of fruli?
