Too far from an HST...
Why was this? It was advertised as Alycidon’s return to mainline running, hence some fare paying passengers (and photographers) would have expected the correct guise. Would have been nice to see a race horse running again….
From the DPS facebook
"As many noticed, that 55009 was paying tribute as 55013 with a special headboard for Harry Wilson.
Harry was an ex York Deltic driver back when the Deltics dominated the Main Line, and this year he turned 100 years old. To celebrate this, we turned 55009 into his favourite locomotive as a surprise and he once again stepped into the Driver's seat at Scarborough."
I believe 13 was his favourite

Good evening, I would like to know what happened after Doncaster?

A connecting lead from the battery flashed over which was soon fixed however it was decided to deploy the ECML Thunderbird from Retford. The train terminated at Finsbury Park due to late running.

From what I have read/heard a 100 year old Deltic driver was on onboard. His favourite Deltic was No.13. I do not know if this was in his honour as it has not been confirmed.

Former driver Harry Friend used to write many entertaining articles about his BR driving experiences in earl issues of ‘Traction’ magazine about 30 years ago. I was delighted to hear that he’s still around and was being honoured in this way, nice!
