Only need Abbey Foregate Curve too, so a lot of work for a tiny bit of track! Nevertheless, the chance to get a NR 97 and a 50 up Talerdigg should be very enjoyable! Ain't been to Aber by rail for more than 4 years!

Well for me it'll probably be up at 0800 a nice lie in for a tour, 0913 to Shrewsbury arr 0941 then do the tour all the way to Aber and back to Bristol. Thus so getting that Didcot Avoider curve I've been after!

Should be a top tour!

Would have preferred the tractor up Talerdigg!

A combination of factors (mandatory - according to my Mum at least :roll: - accommodation in Chinglodge, no series of moves to make it at Swindon available and low tractor mileage) mean I'm flagging this. £60 to join at either the Midlands shack (TBA, probs wouldn't be able to make that either) or Shrewsbury is just far too much. £30 from Shrewsbury and I'd have done it. Even £40 would have been a VERY big push, but £60 is just too much.

If you're not doing it Dave, I may join you at the lineside!

The 9th is it? I was looking for travel on the 8th on Traveline last night! That'll teach me to check the dates properly...

All being well, I'll see you and your merry gang at Talerdigg. Should be past there by 1429? I only hope so as I've got to get the X85 back from Talerdigg to make the 704 off Newtown and the 46 from Crossgates!

1 in 52 is nowt in terms of 50 thrash. Lickey is 1 in 37 and the climb from Exeter st Davids to Exeter Central is steeper still and the 50's will give you some proper thrash. Oh the days of old.

Are they going round the Abbey Curve? If the 97/3 will be added (and later taken off) at Shrewsbury I would have thought this would be at the station. So it would be avoiding the curve, no?

It's booked to pick up at Shrewsbury on the outward so will go into the station. On the way back it will take the Abbey Foregate Curve.

The tour was diverted via Crewe due to a failed unit between Shrewsbury -
Wellington. At Crewe 37676 lead the tour to Bristol due to 50044 feeling unwell. I'm sure someone will explain more later as I'm not really in the mood!

D444 assisting 37676 apparently to try to catch up time, with it being a massive 1h40m late earlier. Gen from a 50 basher on the WNXX forum (D400 I think).

Hope James and Simon make it back OK, as there wasn't enough slack in timings for their train home to cover 100 minutes of delay.

Did you manage to get back on the train after you bailed at Shrews? I noticed the 67 you'd leapt for was stood at the end of the platform at Shrews, then a few minutes later we set off the opposite direction! Would've called you or your dad to let you know what we were doing had I known your number!

Oh 67010 was still there at 1955 when we left, I think the train was caped shortly afterwards.

That was very unlucky for you, I take it you ended up going home rather than to Bristol then? At least you scored 67010, even if it was only up the platform at Shrewsbury, which counts in my book!

We didn't get on 67010 just incase 37676 left, but now you mention it, we could have done that!

was a bloody hellfire tour!

D444 was clagging nicely on idle and more claggy when it left. Had the front window to Oldfield park then went down the set after and let some others have the front window, we decided to see 37676 pushing on the rear. We were going to see the 50 near the front anyway for the way back which we did then I slept on and off back to Shrewsbury down the empty line, must be boring on a 158!

Was nice to take a different way back via crewe even through we were stupidly late. I did notice the man picc 175 came into Shrewsbury platform 5, then reversed out and passed the station on the through road!

Got back to Bath late enough to miss the last train back so paid for a Taxi back to Trowbridge instead.
