Hello all forgive me if this as already been gone over however I cannot find the information using the search function.

Can anybody provide information in regards to the pay of thameslink driver/trainee.

I know it's 51001 after training and 26000 during.

What I'm looking for is more detailed.

Does the pay stay at 26000 for the duration of training and then one large jump to the final 51001 pay point?

Can any one provide information in regards to rates of overtime? Hourly? Daily? Enhanced Sunday rates etc?

Does pay reflect inflation in each annually review?? When is this review?

Is the pay likely to increase on the near future.

Any information surrounding the pay is most welcome.

Thankyou

You go straight from half pay onto full pay the day, you qualify.

As has been posted recently, we just accepted a 4 year deal worth 23%. But new starters will have to commit to 3 Sundays a quarter.
Sunday are time and .55 iirc.

If you look on here for GTR pay rise thread all the laundry is there and out on show.

Iirc o/t is time and a something lol. It's held at the end of the previous deal so in this case the next review will be 4 years away.

Lets not get our GTRs mixed up!

The link above relates to the offer at Southern which was rejected by ASLEF due to the conditions contained in it surrounding Driver Only Operation being worse than the two previous attempts to resolve the DOO dispute.

The pay deal at Thameslink and Great Northern has gone through. Current pay is now £52,174. Working a Rest Day is at time and 15%. Working a Sunday is now time and 55%.

It is one jump from Trainee to Qualified yes.

Next rise is £56k full rate in October, but I don't think Trainee rate will go up by same proportion.

ThAnkyou whoosh that is interesting.. so 56k is the upper limit of the current review? But that's yet to be seen if that's for new starters? The new starting salary will be 52174.

Can you tell me if the new pay deal involves contractual Sunday overtime?

Or is it still the standard 35 4 day week with opt in Sunday's?

Thankyou

No by 2019 we'll be on 63k
New starters are contracted to do 12 Sundays a year.
Sundays are still outside so it's effectively committed overtime

You are allowed to swap your Sundays that are scheduled if you really dont want to work them , but the onus is on you to find someone to work them. If you do work them though, you will be paid £69k PA so basically £500 per Sunday worked.

So new Southern starters in December this year should expect to receive what salary once qualified?

Is Sunday likely to be brought into the working week any time soon?

Also, out of interest, what happens if you do not wish to work a Sunday but are unable to find anyone to swap with? I imagine that must come up, particularly at this time of year.

Not soon, the pay deal given is over the next few years so a new agreement would have to be made. I doubt they have enough Drivers to do it anyway.

You have to work the Sunday as it's your responsibility if it's one of you duty Sundays.

Basically you pick 3 Sundays a quarter that are in your roster, that you will commit to work.

56k this October
61k October 2018
63196 October 2019

Next pay review October 2020.

New starters will get the prevailing rate once qualified, but I'm not sure what the Trainee rates of pay are during this pay deal.

Again this is for Thameslink/Great Northern.

If you do overtime at start or end of your shift it's normal time.

If you work a Rest Day it's 6 hours minimum at time plus 15% plus £50.
Sundays are a minimum of 7 hours at time plus 55%.

Cheers.

This does seem very competitive indeed. They are starting to draw substantially ahead of other TOCs, no longer just a grand or two.

My place will be £7-8k behind the basic and our Sundays are inside, so that's before even considering the Sunday pay GTR get.

Does anybody know if the trainee driver salary will increase in October as well then ?

Choochoochoo, it was 25897 when I started last month, now my first payslip says 26493 so I'm guessing we had the rise.

We've had a raise but I think it is for the Oct 2016-17 year so by my reckoning (not saying I'm correct tho! :D) we should get another raise in Oct this year for the 2017-18.

Would be nice any way :p

I do wonder if the salary race between the various TOCs will seriously begin to take off, particularly in the capital. I know there's one or two TOCs which have avoided taking part so far but the full opening of Crossrail might place a bit of pressure on them.

In the much longer term I can see the East-West link and HS2 leading to substantial pay rises.

I could certainly see it happening in the south east as you have quite a few TOCs in the same area, all basically competing for the same pool of drivers.

It's an interesting one. There seems to be a bit of a divide between drivers who want to earn as much as possible and those who don't want a higher basic if it means sacrificing other terms and conditions such as shift length, Sundays outside etc. which up to now has inevitably happened when pay has increased. If competition from other TOCs means pay is increased without having to sell-out terms and conditions that would be good for both groups!

I'd imagine the high paying TOCs such as Crossrail (and now Thameslink) will be particularly attractive to those with a few years to go until retirement to boost their pension.

I didn't even notice the change. I'll have to go check it later. I still took home roughly the same for the last 2 months.

Would be nice to get another raise in October. But I'm very happy with what I'm getting paid. Anymore is just a nice bonus

Why is GN easier ?

Doesn't seem that way during training. NCL at one end and working of SL at the other. Tons of Level Crossings. Different signaller contact times.

And it won't be that long before there will be through running between GN and TL sides anyway.
