Regarding the withdrawal of plans for the Tattenham/Caterham Thameslink services. I had wondered in the past why the Southern was favoured so much in the Thameslink plans. Good for me though. But it did occur to me that it would make the service through the core more resilient if fewer routes South of the Thames fed into the core. Bang goes that theory then !. I am also left wondering whether this makes the Bermondsey dive-under less of an advantage ?.
Its a bit like the Sutton/Wimbledon loop services that were to terminate at Blackfriars now being allowed to cross over to the through platforms for access to the core. That made the re-arranging of the through platforms at Blackfriars less of a benefit.
With my conspiracy theory engine starting up I realise eventually it will be decided that the Sutton/Wimbledon loop services will revert to terminating at Blackfriars to the benefit of Tattenham/Caterham. That would simplify risk but I suppose the current dividing/joining at Purley might be more attractive (I mean its not going to happen with 8-car 700s).
As someone has mentioned on another thread, it paves the way for Tattenham and Caterham to be part of the TfL plans now.
What i think this does do though is decrease the spare capacity at London Bridge (terminating platforms) as the All day Tatts and peak Cats will now have to use platforms 10-16.
Yeh i expect the dividing and joining at purley to remain, which is sensible really.
There is mention in the brief also of MAJOR alterations to the southern metro timetable including new routes, increased frequency and better turnaround times... once again i think this paves the way for TfL to take over.

I also understand Maidstone East - Cambridge Via LBG will be an all day runner now... Good to see the SE routes actually benefiting from this now...
Also, the Luton - Rainham services should run via Greenwich to provide stations along that route an alternative to just Cannon Street.
Yep, Rainham via Abbey Wood, Greenwich, Dartford and Rochester.
