Their headlines regularly scream about hoardes of complaining commuters every time there is a delay. Of those I know that regularly use the line, there is an reluctant acceptance that operations do sometimes fail, but hardly any of the histrionics that the Advertiser imagines.

Apart from the fact there isn't physical space for these screens on the 377s, it's doubtful. The system is fairly clever but it talks to a server for the latest updates for the real time stuff (the Tube display is live data). Its the server side that is more complex as something has to built and maintain that.

I know they always give an indication of the top speed each class can run at, but I had to laugh at 'Timed for 100mph max'.
On that twisty, crossing-flat-junctions meandering route, you'll be lucky to hit half that speed for more than a minute at a time!!

As a now retired traveller , I see a 12 car 700 (or in fact 2) , at Cricklewood over the last 48 hours - have any of them yet been north to Bedford.? ...
This photo would suggest that they have.
On that photo, the coupler looks to have been worn a bit - I'm guessing from the journey over whilst connected to a translator wagon? Would I also be right in guessing that the hole below the destination display is for FFCCTV?
There's been 2 units at the 'wood all week, including 700106, which is the cover star of Modern Railways (back cover). Was a bit weird reading that then looking up and seeing it!

Nice one - someone had carefully arranged a line up of 5 x 8 car 319's stabled yesterday in the "refreshed" livery at the south end of C/wood - would have made a great picture
Guess we need a farewell to the 319's event at some time .....not that far off I reckon. For all of the issues over the years - will miss them .....

I was on 700106 in November that worked to Bedford twice. My records show the first 700 to Bedford was 700106 on the 30/11/15 working 5W57 Brighton to Bedford (no times sorry).
However today a couple of special 700 moves occurred.
700004 worked 5X70 12+17 Three Bridges Depot to Hornsey Depot via WLL, NLL
700110 worked 5X71 16+27 Hornsey Depot to Three Bridges Depot via NLL, WLL and Redhill
The trick is to read MR and look at the back cover while riding it!
Currently it's 003/0106/107 at Cricklewood

One only on my way into London yesterday, blocked by 365s. On the way back, there was one in all its full-length glory but a Virgin train started overtaking just as we passed the depot - and given our speed it meant we'd passed the train by the time had passed.
If I'd been filming I wonder if I could have got Virgin to give me a free flight for spoiling things...

Be grateful it wasn't a Hull Trains unit, you'd have got a free bus ticket in Aberdeen.

Probably something to do with the fact you never get a seat on a fast train , if you default to a semi - fast you get a seat (with luck) and have your body space invaded by about Elstree and you pay about £5K a year for a 20 mile journey - so when it goes wrong - you feel even more hacked off than normal as a "just about bearable" journey becomes intolerable. That is hy I retired - .........

Hey, we've not given up our human rights just yet. Nobody could do that and get away with it.
I didn't say that the service is necessarily without issues, but the HA does seem to make a lot of noise about the service. It regularly gets Network Rail and the TOC jumbles up in its invective and has a way of finding something to moan about which may be very old news, but I suppose it does fill the small gaps between the adverts.

You have 107 at the back with 106/003 front and center. If you go today you'll see 700102 in the south end of the depot.

What is the point of only running it to East Croydon - surely Brighton or Bedford should have been better? At least the invited guests would get a fast run on the main line instead of meandering around South London (that they could do on a 319...)

It's only a launch for press members - doesn't need to be fast, just have good photo opportunities and plenty of time to film their reports!
Average speed only 3mph better than rocket during the Rainhill trials
(and Rocket had to stop a the end of the 1 mile test tracks and start again)
