Just had 175006 pass Leominster on 1V92.....doesn't seem to have much go in it....usually when the 175s leave Leominster they are moving at quite a pace by the time they pass the box but this one seemed quiet and sluggish
175006 is an absolute shed. Rarely makes it through the day, today being no exception.

There's a confusion with 08:25 Manchester Airport to Holyhead RTT sais 197009 and 175116 maybe one of them had a fault on 05:01 Holyhead to Manchester airport?

197009 worked Holyhead to Chester, handing over to 175116 from there to Manchester Airport and then back to Chester again, where 197009 went back on the diagram.

175116 failed at pontypool this evening, fire alarms going off apparently but unknown whether there actually was a fire. The Hereford based fitter was sent to see what could be done.

Such a shame that a unit released after a thorough clean could have a fire or at the least a alarm set off in such a way. Sadly these instances will likely mean my favourite class will see no further use after tfw

These 175s are confusing me now. For days we only had 175/0 out because it was more efficient to do 2 engines and now they have disappeared and today it has been two 175/1s that have been mentioned.

Is there something at Pontypool as well? A few weeks ago I was on a 175/1 which stopped there and they had to switch it off and sort something out before it proceeded. I don't think there was a fire alarm but it was after the first Wilmslow fire.

Hope they can get 116 back out because a 175/1 is a dream these days on the Manchester trains.

The 175's that have been out in recent weeks are the ones that haven't been stopped or have had checks and been released again. It's been pretty much the same 4-5 units that have been in service. The reliance on them will no doubt take it's toll on their reliability soon.

No record on rtt of 116 being out may just be 108

116 Was working 1V95 Holyhead - Llanelli (from Chester) yesterday when it failed at Pontypool. It was showing as 158826 on RTT, but it was definitely the 175.

I suspect (although this isn’t confirmed) 175108 was cancelled so it could rescue 116, as there can’t be many 175s around to be the rescue, the nearest one will be cancelled and sent to assist. It would still show as cancelled due to a problem with the train as that’s the original reason.

108 was indeed cancelled to rescue 116. Believe 116 is now in Canton awaiting taking to Chester for repairs.

Just seen two 175s joined together running a northbound service to Chester.
RTT says it's 001 and 116, but I'm pretty sure that was 2 175/0s joined together, especially with the problem with 116 failing recently.

Chester is the maintenance depot for the 175s so it could be being took to Chester for repairs

It’s Plausible, as said earlier up 116 is awaiting transfer to Chester for repair, and the easiest way to do that is tag it onto another!

I don't actually think 002 is off lease until its inspection is finished. 005 definitely the 2nd one withdrawn though.

I don’t believe either have actually been withdrawn. Withdrawn means deleted from the National Rolling Stock library and these two units haven’t.

They’ve been taken out of service from TfW yes and will be going off lease but that doesn’t mean the same as withdrawn.

Fire alarm activation apparently near Hereford, 001 and 116.

175108 behind on 1W23 reported to be going to assist, but if that's got problems of its own maybe not!

Since heard that this is in fact what's happened. 108 being used to rescue 116 (again!)

Only 3 x 175s out today on Holyheads. All Swansea to Crewe/Manchester were Sprinters. Fortunately quite a few were 158s. Doesn't seem to be any sign of more 175s coming back anytime soon

’Discussing’ and ’agreeing’ are two separate matters! But there must somewhere still be a market for modern diesel units.
