I just seen a 3 car 175 on the Manchester-Tenby at Briton Ferry - 175108.

So yes things are improving with more in service today.

I’d seen a report somewhere which suggested all the 175s were being temporarily withdrawn after 4 fires in 2 weeks… is that not the case then? Would rather get my facts straight!

They were but the ones that have had the necessary work and checks have been put back in service.

Looks like it made it to Manchester at 1524 so just enough time for it to depart just a minute late for the return trip. They did quite well to recover the time there.

And duly got later and later on the way south because people could not fit. Very close to leaving people behind at Stockport. Were it not for some insistence that people went right to the middle of the aisle there would have been people left behind. Frustrating then a lot of people get off at Wilmslow, is there no way to make Wilmslow and Stockport pick up only while units are missing.

It is a definite benefit of knowing what unit is on the train that it becomes possible to find the door location before it arrives in Piccadilly. A lot of disappointed people on the platform who were stood where the third carriage would have been. Thanks again for the heads up that it was a 158, RTT did not have the unit on it.

No problem.

The only issue with making Stockport and Wilmslow pick up only is with Wilmslow this is one of only 2 fast trains per hour. Its not ideal but hopefully when 5 carriages are on most services this will resolve the situation.

In France or Germany there are no such use of poor (old, noisy, smelly, non-air conditioned) quality rolling stock (regardless of how many refurbishments).

Rubbish, have you seen what some of the TER services are operated with? Some of the coaches date back to the 1970s.

I look at that statement after several years of living in North Wales and think "what's special about that?". It's a completely routine thing up here for people to actually be left behind by train after train after train during the summer - to the point that when a train manages to mop up everyone on the platform is the remarkable occurrence, rather than the situation above. I dread to think how late one train was after a girl fainted and an ambulance had to be called.

Veritable 150 fest on many of the other services. Unfortunately 150236 is working 1W55 0935 Swansea to Manchester Piccadilly in its own, although some of the other services are multiple units.

The 13:30 attaches to a unit at Manchester Piccadilly (which stables there overnight from the last Chester - Manchester Sat night) which is why that one is more units than the others.

Yes the class 175 will be short until these current issues are sorted out. However a two car 150 vice 175 is better than nothing. However those that moan the most about a two car 150 vice 175. Will moan again when the two car 150 substitute finally stop. Ie 150 no more.
Make the most of the 175 and two car 150s 153s whilst you can they aren't going to be around forever. In reality time is approaching towards the very final days. Yes a fleet withdrawal and fleet shortages haven't occurred for a long time on this line. However I remember back in the early to mid nineties on the same line but with Regional railways ie 158 doors and some gauging issues meant the 158 fleet was withdrawn for a short while again same situation with two car regional railways livery 150 sprinters on.
Same situation 30 years ago 150 vice 158 near enough to 150 vice 175 today.

I think the 1330 is often a 4 or 5 car. I'm not sure if it still happens but it used to drop a set off in Cardiff and then the remaining 3 sets used to continue to Whitland where it split and 2 cars would go to Milford and 1 car to Pembroke Dock.

They could attach one of the 150s to another journey however to strengthen it and have less with just 2 carriages.

Yes that's right, although there seems to be lots of engineering work west of Swansea recently and therefore it hasn't gone the full length.
