They havent scrapped paper tickets yet.
(which is the only way to get an fnf discounted travelcard).

FNF gets 1/3rd off the Adult travelcard and 60% off the child.
The combination of which is much cheaper than a capped oystercard which is 100% cap for adults and 50% for children.
The savings multiply, if there are two parents and more than 1 child.

ive not got the exact amounts, i’m sure someone here can advise, but its around £24 for 2 adults and 2 children, versus £45 for Oyster at capped limits, with the zones, more if you include rail fare… so its not a few pennies were talking about.

Zonal 7-day and longer Travelcards, but not Day or outboundary Travelcards, can be loaded onto an Oyster card. There is no need to touch in and out as long as one travels within the designated zones. If touched-in (and within the journey time limit, and loaded with sufficient PAYG credit) an Oyster card with a Travelcard loaded may be used anywhere Oyster is accepted.

They can, but the question I replied to specifically asked about Oyster.

It depends on the cap. The zone 1-2 cap is much cheaper than the off-peak zones 1-6 travelcard.

I'm not sure that is TfL's problem.

If an actual TOC (Merseyrail) can render Railcards near useless by fiddling with ticketing and get away with it, TfL can do whatever it likes up to and including withdrawing all Railcard discounts entirely.

I do think they need to make it easier to get child rate Oyster cards. But other than that...
