As I claim work travel expenses currently using Oyster. I currently use a London Underground ticket office to get a Oyster Usage Statement which I then use as a receipt to claim back.

However when the ticket office closes, Oyster becomes a bit more of a disadvantage for this use as when I tweeted TfL Ways to Pay, they told me to subscribe to a weekly email statement, which I already subscribe to, but is useless for same day submission, something which the workplace requires. I thought the LUL TOM's would be able to print this data?

So apparently you can see same day travel online which you can see if you use a Contactless card, but as I think they don't calculate the total until the end of the day, will this be as useful as getting the price from an Oyster card?

They don't calculate the total to charge to your card until the end of the day, but you should be able to see a running total throughout the day.

its a crazy situation but the same owner of LU has mandated that there should be staffed ticket offices on its Overground stations.. if one of these is near to you then it should still be possible to receive statements this way.

Some people add financial value equal to the day's travel cost to the Ouster e-purse and submit the receipts issued for these transactions instead. This only works though if you know your travel costs in advance (ie: at the start of the day).

Hope this helps

Simon

It is actually the DfT, through the hours listed in Schedule 17 to the Ticketing & Settlement Agreement (TSA) which regulates the opening hours of Overground, and the ex-Silverlink LU booking offices, which are operated on behalf of Lorol. Given that TfL have already stated their aim to negotiate with the relevant parties to enable them to close booking offices at the ex-Silverlink stations, it would not surprise me if booking offices at Overground stations end up following suit.

TfL policy is merely that Overground stations should be staffed during traffic hours, not that these must be booking office staff.

My home station is a LO station, so can use their ticket office for most of my work journeys, it's the journey that I make on claim day that are the issue.

It may be the case that I'll have to claim for that day on the next month as I won't be anywhere near a LO managed station which is near work.

(I think I could ask for a statement at Thameslink/Great Northern managed stations as well, such as City Thameslink or Blackfriars, but is inconvenient.)

Is there any reason why you cannot wait until the next day to get the previous day's charge?

Is there any reason why you can't submit one claim for journeys made Monday through to Thursday...
and thereafter just claim for journeys made from Friday-Thursday?
