Speaking of BZLs, I believe Ashton now has entirely BZLs (84 off the top of my head) - is that entirely double decks or are there some singles as well?

Also does anyone happen to know how many of each type of EV is at Hyde Road?

Rather odd working saw Oldham Depot BZL 66071 perform a return trip on 402 Oldham-Buckstones service last night, looks like Oldham are short of Buses and having compliance problems which has seen some rather odd workings over the past week.

Find it very hard to believe Oldham were short of buses on a Sunday evening.

Would Oldham get booked for using a BZL single on 402 or does compliance mean that any electric single can be used on the route?

I'd love to know what the ruling is on what can be used on various routes, for example I live on 181/182 route and if compliance means the route has to be operated by E300s which most duties are I know that there's one duty in the evening that comes off a 81 which in return does one trip first thing in the morning on 82 so has to be a decker usually a hybrid B5 decker from what I can gather.

Also is it compliant for Queens Road to use a decker on 480s or is the route meant to be booked singles?

Age limits apart, normally if a decker is used on a single decker route there is no issue as it’s deemed as ‘uplift’.
If a single is used on a route that’s required to be a decker then obviously it’s a fine.

So say if the 348 uses an E300 instead of an E400 MMC/B5LH it will get fined

Go Northwest's 20 Bolton-Trafford Centre is an interesting one as not to sure if all boards for 20 stipulate this but the one I saw once said "Any Age Single Decker", this will explain the variety of vehicle types that appear on 20 from day to day.

does anyone know what happened to 13163 and 13165
I’d imagine they are either away for painting and interior conversion or are off the road with engine/hybrid issues.
I was behind one of the ex First/GNW B5’s yesterday in Ashton and it sounded extremely rough.
Given they both seem to have come off the road on the 31/8 I’d suggest paint and conversion, although why TFGM insists on spending money on these sheds is beyond me.

They aren't getting painted because it would be a waste of money for around a year of service, so it's more likely being repaired as they are unreliable, and Oldham doesn't have any replacements (yet)

I think the 24 plate MMCs from Middleton will replace them once their depot is electric which would be a huge upgrade for services like the 350/348 etc as the B5s are woefully unreliable I don't even know why TFGM even considered these buses

Hopefully the B5s go first but it does leave older e400s still going

Hang on…
They are getting painted as half of the batch have already been done.
While I agree they are unreliable TFGM bought them for the vehicle pool NOT as stop gaps like the B9’s and Scania’s so don’t bet on them being withdrawn anytime soon!

Because they were hoodwinked into believing they were decent buses along with the B9’s and Scania’s.
