Temporary stations

Apart from Leeds Whitehall and Oldham Mumps (Metrolink), have any other temporary stations been built on the network since 1900?

I'm sure there'll be plenty of others since 1900 as compared to very few since 1990.

I'm sure there was plenty pre 1900 with temporary terminus stations before lines were extended.

Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh could be considered temporary in some ways (used only very occasionally for special events after it had served its original purpose for the Commonwealth Games).

A temporary platform was built on the St Ives line in Cambridge Science Park in 1984 or 1985 for a visit by the VSOE, promoting something or other I think.

There was another one at Debdale Park in east Manchester for the demonstration runs of a DLR car in 1987.

There was a temporary station put up at Over Junction, Gloucester sometime in the early 1990s. IIRC it was due to some problem with the River Severn bridges - not sure if it was flooding or scouring or whatever.
I don't know if it had nameboards or what name it carried.

Another one I remember only vaguely is Maentwrog Road on the Blaenau Ffestiniog - Trawsfynydd branch. I seem to recall there was a scaffolding platform erected there for a series of special trains in the late 80s/early 90s.

Westcott Range Halt (or whatever you call it) only lasted from 1916 to 1928, and was mainly used for a World War One soldiers' rifle range.

When Carnival trains used to run on the Luton-Dunstable branch line a temporary station was erected each year at Luton Bute Street and on the outskirts of Dunstable.

A bridge was washed out on the Shrewsbury - Machynlleth line (early 1980s?) and one - possibly two - temporary stations were installed either side.

Cannot remember the details.

Sounds right. I was involved in the train planning exercise but cannot for the life of me remember the name of the place!

Slipper Chapel Halt, erected near Walsingham on the GER Wells-next-the-Sea branch for excursions in connection with pilgrimages to the nearby shrine. Was certainly in use in the early 1960s.

I think BR used to set up a temporary platform for the Coalville depot open days in the 1980s for shuttles to Leicester and Burton

Hafod y Llyn on the Welsh Highland Railway was a temporary terminus between Beddegelert and Pont Croesor.
