Does anybody have any info on the shift pattern and rest days for drivers - looked on the threads on here but can't find anything regarding them .

Do drivers get days off after the shift cycle? Etc any info would be great , thanks

I do know someone that is a driver so will try to ask but I think it's subject to changes dependent on a the business needs. It mentioned that the shifts include an 11 and a half hour and a 4 and a half hour shift 4 days on 3 off but that's as much as I know. I'm sure someone on here will have a better knowledge than me

Thread has been quiet for a while.
Over 2 months since we had our letters, has anyone heard anything?

Has anyone been given a start date for a course yet?

Same here also. I know one of the drivers and he is trying to find out a bit of info about when courses are likely to be starting and when people are retiring etc

Nice to see they got the funding for the new fleet of trains

I'd imagine Metro will want to start a course asap next year and those at top of holding pool will hear something in the new year as it's currently a struggle to cover all jobs with a shortage of drivers. Plus plenty of drivers looking to move on and some to retire/go part time. Also current trainees will have passed out by then.

I had a call this week saying there is a course starting around January. The first 16 out of 60 have been picked and there is an online personality test to complete to decide on the first 8 from those. Apparently they are hoping to run 2 courses next year

A driver left today for another company and several more are waiting for start dates. A new course is apparently start w/c 15th January but will be subject to having enough driver trainers in place.

A new course is apparently start w/c 15th January but will be subject to having enough driver trainers in place.

Interesting that they planned the start date as the w/c 15th of Jan. It wont leave them a lot of time for medicals and contracts to be sorted assuming people may need to give an average of 4 weeks notice. I wouldn't really feel comfortable handing in my notice until I had my contract in my hands.

Hope they can squeeze it in for the people that got a call back
