I know it's impossible to say really, but what are the chances of 5702 still being around on 22nd December (roughly)?

To ride, somewhat unlikely. There is only planned work for the 455s up until Saturday 20th (one week after the timetable change), and then while a few are bound to show up again between then and New Year to cover unavailable 701s, there's currently 31 remaining. Assuming 5702 isn't one sent away between now and then, you'd only get it if it was one of the pair or two chosen to cover from about thirty remaining 455s.

Definitely not zero chance, but if 5702 is particularly important to you I'd act sooner rather than later, if it were possible.

It doesn’t appear that a direct route from London into EMR Kingsbury would be possible without reversing at Water Orton or Coleshill Parkway. Is that possible?

I cannot think of one either without a reversal

I recall the pacers going there from Derby and the reversal seemed quick to the Kingsbury siding. Granted they were driven and came from up north but the shunt blocked just one line briefly. That is my guess unless Sims Beeston is the other plan.

Hope to get a last 455 ride in two weeks passing through London so hope there is a weekend diagram on RTT.

Looking through LRR, this is the list I can see of 455s That haven't worked since Sunday. For completeness, I have added previously posted inf' from member Seimens Staines who I have found to be a great help with such inf on this site. Any errors or additions please feel free to amend. It's what I noted on LRR, so any system glitches, or me getting confused are the caveats

Of Note
5706 showed today as 0624 Waterloo Dorking, failed Motspur Park with "Brake system fault including flats". it's previous in traffic day was 11.11 where the 8 car was failed at Claygate, same reason (1733 Waterloo Guildford) (The reason is now not showing on LHH, it did show on 17th when I noted this.)

Units 5712, 5717 & 5727 can all be found at Bournemouth Depot, 5712 & 5717 been there 2 weeks, 5727 several months.

I have no idea what they are there for before any asks the question, sorry..........

Having seen some drone photos taken in October, at least four coaches (minus bogies) from the Renatus 321s were still around along with many other bodyshells from 150s, 455s and 466s. Certainly doesn't look like anything train wise is being chopped very quickly at the moment...

There are precedents for scrap units waiting for space for a few days in Alexandra Dock sidings, such as a couple of the Royal Mail 325s back in 2024. I don’t think a short stay of execution is necessarily a sign of anything weird happening.

The main difference here is that the 325s were moved by DB and are compatible with normal traction (they have buffers and conventional couplings) whereas the 455s are moved by ROG and need speciallist locomotives or translator vehicles to couple up. So moving them the short distance from Alexander Dock Jcn down to the scrap yard will present problems.

Well 0O87 the light loco arrives in time for both (ie either) so that does not indicate anything.

But the 10:12 version of 5Q57 is a VST (Very Short Term Plan) whereas the 11:20 version is a STP (Short Term Plan).
So I feel the 10:12 was added later so more likely to be the one used as it probably replaces the 11:20.

EDIT - It is "5Q57" not "5Q87"

So the units can be loco hauled later to EMR Kingsbury, 5849/5750 moved upto Derby last week with 37884.

Maybe, they have to be rebooked in at Kingsbury, also, its possible since simms at Newport have the contract, they still might have to go there, however if Simms can no longer scrap any more on the contract, a new contract will have to be signed up for Kingsbury, however even so, Kingsbury is slower than Newport simms for scrapping trains anyway, so Derby will hold and store them, until, Kingsbury was ready anyway.

Plus Long Marston will be full of 3502s soon as well from London North Western Railways anyway,.

Only the 10:12 will operate, the 11:20 disappeared
