I would hope it would be exhibited at Ashford before withdrawal - after all, 455's had electrical work done there and the wholesale refurbishment (Chart Leacon), so there is an association between the two
I would hope SWR are not going to have any short-formed 455 diagrams whilst it is away. Priority must always be service delivery.

PTSO or platform depending on the weather
A colleague of mine seen 455702 on a low loader near on the M6 near Stafford.
Assume you mean a carriage from 5702; not the whole unit ::D Post repairs at Kilmarnock?

Does anyone have the statuses of 5701, 5708, 5728, 5741, 5856, 5859, 5861 and 5862 as I’ve noticed that they’ve all not been in service for a while
5701 - currently donating spares
5708 - exam
5728 - now in traffic
5741 - awaiting lathe
5856 - now in traffic
5859 - failed bearings, awaiting scrap
5862 - now in traffic

with every scrap recently, I seen they take the 455/8 and 455/9, is it mean they will scrap these 2 batch first?

As others have commented on above, it will be largely based upon miles (of running) left before a unit needs to be stopped for exam purposes, which in itself costs money. In very basic terms, in my time we ramped that up from 10 to 15k miles between exams, but I've since been informed (off record), that 455's are now something like 20k between exams. Someone better in the know these days will correct me I am sure!
There will I am sure be a limited amount of flexibility to this if several units are stopped for various reasons, parts/components can be swapped out, to prolong the life of (perhaps) one unit over one or two basket cases. It is what it is, Peter is robbed to keep Paul going etc, the painted unit number will be of little if any consequence!

Is 455 859 the only one currently awaiting scrap, or are there more lined up for imminent departure?
5919 is now also on the list to be scrapped. Can't say when they will be going but storage space is very limited so presumably soon.

Trawling through RTT I can find 49 class 455s that have carried passengers today. 23 pairs and three singles. The singles are the AM and PM halves of the booked single diagram whilst the third is standing in for a five car 458. There is also an extra pair out on the Reading line all day vice class 450 or 458.

A couple of other observations from the past two days. The 508 trailers are noticeably cooler than the other three vehicles when the outside temperature is in the mid 20s. The motors on 5711 and 5715 are enjoyably loud. They actually sound loudest when slowing down and whilst sitting in the adjacent 508 trailers. Had some cracking runs, waiting time all over the place on several trips. Pleasing to note that many drivers still take the trouble to display the correct two digit route codes.

This unit will be missed amongst enthusiasts, like the units mentioned in the post above, 5919 had ridiculous loud motors that always lived up my commute when I had it.

/9s are diminishing quickly.
Is the whole programme so delayed that you are not bothering to update the front page any more? ;)

Apologies if this has already been answered but what are the current statuses of 455861 and 455915?
5861 is on exam
5915 is in service but been out for about a week due to investigation of a persistent door control issue

455858 was one of my favorite units aswell, very sad sight to see and I'm glad I got to see it one last time on the scrap drag at clapham, thank you for the images.

Damn, that's my last /9. Any idea when it was last in service?
It hasn't been stopped for long. It was part of the pair that failed at Surbiton on 12th 2G23. While it isn't a guarantee something selected for scrap will not re-enter service, this one is out of UAT miles so I expect it to be sidelined now.

This is the risk with all the remaining stock now, in that should they encounter a significant failure, especially when close to running out of exam miles on any front, they stand a much higher risk of "jumping the queue" onto the scrap list. The frailty of this class now means any of them can go next.

Thank you
Apologies I missed a note earlier. 5915 is also now confirmed for scrap. I think it was last in service on 8th and got back to Wimbledon on 5Y67 following the door control issue, and not been in service since.

feels like the 455/9s decreasing the fastest, among those other 2 batches

I was suspicious that it had been permanently stood down haha. Good to have confirmation. Thank you
