Are 458 moves to BM jinxed? The one on Tuesday got stuck at plat 3 in Soton for hours; today's move has been stuck on the down slow outside Woking for three hours...
Saw this between Feltham and Ashford this morning whist out walkingIt looks like the second 458/4 is planned to be delivered to Bournemouth tomorrow and then returning with 458523 to Widnes

What was the formation; should be 56081 on the front..Saw this between Feltham and Ashford this morning whist out walking
The original working was cancelled at woking but the new headcode 5X65 is still going to take it to BournemouthWhat was the formation; should be 56081 on the front..
I see the headcode has now been changed to 5X65, so wonder if it's been caped.
458407. Info from post #1648Which 458 has ventured south today then?
I did look but I'm getting on now so seeing things is becoming more difficult - good job I'm not a train driver458407. Info from post #1648
Network Rail insisting that it should run as a 5Xxx head code rather than a 5Qxx head code. What was the formation; should be 56081 on the front..

They have indeed fitted carpetsI hope they've fitted carpets. Lino floors will make it feel like a commuter train. Those on the 334 are particularly bad, actually.
That’s a great picture, thanks so much for sharing. It looks so smart. I can’t wait to see the inside.458417 sat outside Bournemouth maintenance shed alongside a 455.

From above photos looks like one of them is 5902PS Anyone know the 455 unit numbers either side of 458417?
458/0 had these yaw dampers fitted, used to be the bane of my life. Heavy, filthy and covered in oil when I had to deal with them.Think these are the new dampers that have been causing possible gauging issues. More a case of paperwork issues, than actual size problems though.

Cheers, thanks. So was the gauging issue something else?458/0 had these yaw dampers fitted, used to be the bane of my life. Heavy, filthy and covered in oil when I had to deal with them.
The 455 in the shot is 5902. 5721, 5730, 5863 and 5920 are the others on site.

That's making the optimistic assumption that they'll ever carry any passengers. Personally I'm not particularly confident that'll ever happen.Thankyou very much for the photos @Rogersbmx , much appreciated. Also keen for a ride on these to Pompey, I was lucky enough to have several trips on the same line in the refurb 442s, before they got withdrawn.
Electrical connections don't look compatible...Are their interior photos yet?
And are they compatible to run with 450s or was that a rumour?
Mentioned here in post #1,524.And are they compatible to run with 450s or was that a rumour?
It would be an odd rumour to surface now, I’m sure if we were to go back to the original conversion it was immediately stated that the coupling change only allowed for emergency rescue. To the best of my knowledge it was only ever tested within Wimbledon depot.Mentioned here in post #1,524.
Not even a rumour. At least not for anyone who knows anything about trains from different manufacturers. And are they compatible to run with 450s or was that a rumour?
To be fair, Sprinters from three separate manufacturers are all compatible with each other and with Turbostars from a fourth - though clearly that's a bit different as it pre-dates computer systems that wouldn't talk to each other. Not even a rumour. At least not for anyone who knows anything about trains from different manufacturers.
No more orange inside the unit. Grab rails are blue, so is the carpet, so are the seats!Iam interested to know if the interior refurbishment went to the extent that it included re painting the hand rails in the vestibule areas or are they still SWT orange like the desiros?
Are the seat hand grips light blue too?
