Does anyone know the location of 5738/40? (not mentioned anywhere, unless Ive missed it) or 458504/15 (noted as at WD above, but not sure where) Previous posts have already covered where at WD 5907 and 456001 can be seen (or not!)

458504 is split with half in the shed. It's missing quite a few parts and I doubt it will be running any time soon.

Hi

I am recently back to spotting after 30 odd years away…. I am looking for the following EMUs and I fear they might all be in storage??

5736
5738
5750

456001
456005
456006

If they are stored, where? And are they visible?

Thanks
G

Both 5736 & 5738 are oos in Wimbledon Park, 5736 out of miles due overhaul, 5738 stored servicable with very low miles to overhaul.

Hi, so re 456001 - I can confirm that as per @WarrenTManager ’s guidance (post from 22/9) it is indeed to be found in the far siding (23 Road). I spotted this on Sunday using Warrens lead - as he said you can’t decipher the number from the District Line so I got off the District Line at Wimbledon Park and then walked to this industrial unit area off ‘The Crescent’. I climbed the outside stairs of some weird gym / sports injury place and could distinctly make out 001. This completed my 456’s - happy.

I did notice that yesterday 455717 was on a diagram that started & ended at Wimbledon so its appearance my have been brief. But it is back out again today partnering 455719

I think that this set should end at Guildford tonight off 2F77 but obviously plans and unforseen events could change that. Clearly how low its mileage is, and how many days use that equates to, will be a consideration.

Several 455s are reported as requiring being scrapped by Road as they’re in such a poor state. I’m led to believe at least ten units are being used as Christmas trees or unlikely to see service again, with 456s and 458s having similar issues.

I know it won’t happen but it would almost seem worth while doing an emergency loan of 387s, the numbers and length of time aren’t too dissimilar to Scotrail emergency loaning of 365s.

I’ve also seen a document which shows January is a possibility of passenger introduction, assuming a meeting with ASLEF in two weeks goes well.
I believe method of work has been confirmed in regards to dispatch and train working.
Thats surprising considering majority of the the fleet is only 36 - 37 years old. Its the 455/7s which will be end of life next year, are they the ones in poor state?

Do you know where it is in Wimbledon depot ?
London end of 18 road depot sidings. It’s behind 5726 so not easily seen. I’ve labelled the road numbers for reference. These are the sidings viewed from Durnsford Road driveway. You’d never make out the number but using this plan you might make its roofline out from the road bridge.

Thanks again. Have 458504 & 458529 been in a specific place for a while too ? If so, where ?
two fifths of 8504 are on 16 road which is a short siding in front of the bogie drop, the building in the top right of the aerial photo. The other three fifths are in the lift shop 12 road. 8529 is in top yard on 20 road, it might be seen from the gym steps (noting that 6001 is on 23 road to help get your bearings) it might be seen from the District Line perhaps.

Are they all out of service in there, or just mostly?
I know 5847 is there or was there.
