SWR Automated Delay Repay

We travelled on the 18.35 service from Waterloo to Poole on Friday (17 July). It was exactly 15 minutes late (arrived at 20.49 instead of 20.34). We were travelling as a three and all three tickets were advance singles purchased on the SWR app (two tickets with a Two Together Railcard). I have an SWR Delay Repay account and can see I am opted in to Automated Delay Repay. Apparently you're meant to receive an email within 48 hours of the journey containing a link to generate a Delay Repay claim, although I still haven't received anything and I can see my account says that I don't currently have any unsubmitted Automated Delay Repay Notifications.

Is there any reason why ADR shouldn't work in the above circumstances? Does it not work if you're travelling as a group, for example? Am I better off just submitting a manual Delay Repay claim now?

Similarly, we travelled on the 17.45 service from Weymouth to Clapham Junction yesterday, which was 30 minutes late. Again, these were three advance single tickets purchased on the SWR app. No notification yet but it's not been 48 hours.

SWR have a problem with ADR at the moment. They have recommended you claim for delay repay via the form on the website or via email to customer services till the problem is fixed.

Ah right, thanks. I did google to see whether there was a problem with the ADR service but couldn't see anything!

Rather than start a new thread...

Travelled on SWT on split tickets purchased via Trainpal Clapham Junction-Basingstoke / Basingstoke - Honiton on off peak returns (return within 1 month on Super off peak returns for the return to CJ) with Senior Railcard on Wednesday (9th September 2026).

Booked itinerary was Clapham Junction dep 11.27 Basingstoke arr 12.06 / Basingstoke dep 12.08 Honiton arr 14.28.

Actual timings were Clapham Junction dep 11.28 Basingstoke arr 12.14 / Basingstoke dep 12.16 Honiton arr 14.55, so 27 mins late at Honiton.

Original ticket price was quoted as £96.50 which was reduced by £14.00 by the split tickets and £27.60 by the railcard discount.

I submitted a delay repay claim to SWT just for the Basingstoke to Honiton sector and received an email confirmation from SWT that I could expect a refund of £6.75.

However I then received confirmation that the refund would actually be £3.38.

Does this seem to be correct?

No. £6.75 would be closer to it, though if you just tell us the face value on the tickets that will be easier, because my maths makes it £6.86.

You are aware that you are entitled to claim DR for the full journey?

I wasn't but I will be next time....

I assumed that as I had two separate tickets, I could only claim for the ticket for the delayed part of the journey.

The journey from Clapham Junction to Basingstoke on the off peak return was delayed but only by 8 minutes.

However, the delay on the journey from Basingstoke to Honiton on the super off peak return ticket was 27 minutes, hence that's what I claimed for.

Most TOC's delay repay websites allow you to input multiple tickets for the one journey, as split ticketing is now so common.

You could contact SWR's customer services and ask them to amend your claim as you were unaware you could claim for your entire journey.
