Problem with newer systems they are specified lowest possible for energy efficiency so when things heat up there’s not much spare capacity for the refrigeration packs to kick out.
Also doesn’t help that many stores often have their refridgeration packs on the buildings roof in prime heat all day!

Well, if they are that committed to zero emissions and that at a higher priority than running a profitable business that meets their customers needs, just don't have freezers at all and we can all live on tinned food or cook from fresh. Oh, but they closed all the fresh food counters to put everything into pre-packed trays in chilled cabinets didn't they. Of course if every supermarket is in the same position the customer has no choice but to suck it up.

Morrisons - I am waiting to see how much surplus stock there is on items (particularly chilled) that are hidden behind vertical roller blinds. I rarely see someone opening them to get at what they want. Shows how much is impulse buying. Clear plastic doors would be better and it must be an amazing amount of energy lost through having nothing holding the cold air in !. Would you run you fridge with no door on it ?.

I was just thinking knock up a white reflective roof over the heat exchangers on the roof.

Then I thought, how about sides and a cooling system to help keep the heat exchengers in this roof room, you know, cool...........

More seriously I have seen external heat exchangers being hozed down to help them (I think it was a hospital).

Precisely what I was doing in the last heatwave in turn with other staff, and will be doing again Friday onwards looking at the forecast!

Seems Tesco discontinued (except pepsi max flavour)and co-op and Aldi haven't had any delivered lately wonder what the issue is if any. Ingredient banned or lack of demand only thing I can think of.Will try a corner shop later to see.

You often find tins of BARRS Cream Soda in the likes of Home Bargains or B&M at a reasonable price (drinking one now . . .!)
Although many places only have gaps whilst the heat is as it is.

I got some from Sainsbury’s a few weeks ago. I hadn’t had any for years and I quite enjoyed. It was Sainsbury’s brand and came in a multipack of cans. I can’t remember if there were 6 or 8 cans. I did get it from a large store where they had plenty of choice. I also got a similar pack of Sainsbury’s ginger beer.

I've had both. While I prefer the Idris brand of ginger beer, I find Sainsbury's cream soda fine.

I wonder where the supermarket own brand pop originates from? Things like Cream Soda or Ginger Beer - wonder if for the most part it originates in Kegworth (Carters factory for the old 'uns or Refresco as it is at present)

I recall the Cott Corporation (HQ Florida) but have satellite factories around the world including the UK and produce own-label drinks for many UK supermarkets. They’ve grown in size by acquisitions and have renamed themselves the ‘Primo Water Company’.

Cott sold that arm of the business many years ago to Refresco. I believe Refresco do the own brand drinks for pretty much all supermarkets.

20 years ago when i was self employed I did some work for Princes Soft Drinks in Bradford, and they did a lot of the supermarket own label stuff. They were part of the Mitsubishi Corporation, with a UK head office in the Liver Building.

Sainsbury's own-brand cream soda seems to me to have a slight sweetener taint to it as well. Unfortunately I can't find an alternative to try locally.

Sainsbury's used to sell cream soda made/branded by "Soda Folk" which I preferred, although it was pricier (£3 per 4-pack IIRC). Soda Folk have a website, but the only "buy now" option I could see is a 24-pack via Amazon. That would last me about five years!

Tesco say they will close all Tesco Express stores in England at 7:30pm on Sunday if England reach the World Cup final. The larger supermarket branches will already be closed by that time under Sunday trading laws. No word on whether Sainsburys will follow suit with the locals.

To Sainsbury's l will go. Haven't tried there before because it's such a faff with parking at our branch where l live, endless escalator's and lifts that don't usually work etc in a multistorey carpark.

No eggs to kids has been “a thing” around Halloween for several years. I wonder if it’s also an end of term pastime in your area?soca block has been put on so that staff can see who’s purchasing.

Would make sense in a way, if there has been anti-social behaviour by school-leavers to egg the school (although seeing as year 11 GCSE students would likely have finished last month that rules out those leavers)

The major supermarkets have a voluntary no under 16’s policy on red bull and other energy drinks but I see the government now plan to make it law. Which does make some sense I guess as it defeats the object if U16’s can’t buy them from Sainsburys or Tesco but the corner shops will turn a blind eye and sell them. It will, though, probably lead to an increase in shoplifting/theft, my store already security tags red bull and we’ll probably have to start tagging Monster as well.

Had a really weird experience in Sainsbury’s this afternoon. Picked up a coleslaw and scanned it, and noticed that the item on the Smartshop handset display wasn’t the one I’d scanned. Picked up a few more of the same product to see they all had the same barcode. I then approached a staff member in the same aisle and asked for help. He picked up another one off the shelf, scanned it, and it appeared as the correct item. We then scanned the item that was in my trolley again and it said that I had two of them. In the end I just deleted the erroneous item but no idea how that happened; the staff member was speculating that it may have picked up the barcode that’s on the bottom of the shelf edge ticket.
