And if a phone does not get answered it could potentially make recovery of the service harder. However if you are motivated by your job, and believe what you do makes a difference, then you might just carry on working as above.

The late start was due to a 50 late inward working -It 18:06 was running about 3 minutes late at Andover, and got to Waterloo at 19:19 which is exactly 30 mins later than the scheduled 18:49 arrival of the train that ran fast
I suspect the controllers do not have to suffer a delay of 15-20 minutes for a toilet. There are obvious consequences when decisions like this are taken, but sometimes the inconvenience to passengers (pun intended) is long way down the priorities.
Looks like passengers waiting at Honiton for the 1L60 had to swap platforms too. I do not know why it was 10 minutes late departing its start point in Exeter
Good point, I hadn't considered that.Just because the train might have a 27 minute turnaround, it doesn’t mean the crew do. Their next working will potentially be taking up a platform at Waterloo waiting for them, as a result transferring delays to other routes and even more passengers.
Not all signallers have a designated break, not all Shift Signaller Managers have a designated break. (They may have a ‘naturally occurring break’) but the other day I didn’t really get one of those and tried to eat my tea while managing two very disruptive incidents that predictably started just as I sat down with it.yes tough its the only way management will sort out the problem of meal relief. all the platform staff signalman admin staff and traincrew get it so why not the hardest work staff in control. in most controls where there is lots of staff, others will cover if theres no meal relief and will answer emergency calls but may let the phone ring if they are dealing with another thing.
