Due to a broken down train at Stockport some stations are seeing a 3 hour gap in service this evening. Which train broke down and how is it causing so much disruption given there's quadruple track?
Nothing broken down as far as i can tell.Due to a broken down train at Stockport some stations are seeing a 3 hour gap in service this evening. Which train broke down and how is it causing so much disruption given there's quadruple track?
Yes that is correct, however, I was responding to the comment from post #5. Trains were able to run on both the up slow and up fast lines from Slade Lane junction towards Stockport , as such both 2K47 and 1V61, originating from Manchester Piccadilly were run as scheduled despite the known failure of 6E10 and it should be noted that both of these trains uneventfully passed the site of the failed freight. I am posting this solely to kybosh the supposition which is abound in this particular thread.
It has been mooted that there was quite a serious wrong side signalling issue in that area. At least that would match the information from our control.
That's one way of putting it!
I was under the impression it was the other way around.According to a post on wnxx a 323 was close to crashing in to a Voyager due to an error made by a signaler with the 323 driver applying the emergency brakes in time to prevent a crash.

Given the current campaign by Lord Adonis and the NIC to blame freight for as many delays as possible in an attempt to transfer freight from rail to road, does anyone know the definitive version as to whether freight caused this problem, or is it just another blame shifting exercise?
