Last week I spent two hours looking out of the window on a pleasant journey through Devon and Somerset. I'd variously lean towards the window and look forward or angle myself against the middle arm rest and 'look straight out'. ie. My head roughly in line with my torso. (Seat facing direction of travel, good window given aircraft-style seating.)
The next day I thought I'd sprained a shoulder muscle or something getting out of bed! It turned out that the controlling factor was head/neck position not arm movement. A week later I'm still suffering a bit.

Is this me just wedging myself in an odd position, or do others get something similar?

I do get that but it's because of an injury, I fell from an obstacle on an obstacle race course pretty much onto my head, by rights it should have put me in a wheelchair but I somehow got away with it other than periodic back/neck issues.

Are you sure you swallowed the Viagra correctly? As I've heard if it sticks in your throat you can get a stiff neck:'(:'(

I can't sit and keep my position for to long must at least once every 30 minutes look somewhere else, the only time I get uncomftorbale is when the train is full and get cramp in my legs.
Once you've recovered you will be able to sit in that position again for longer as your muscle is stronger, a bit like weight training, a new armchair/bed, gardening. First time you get stiff then you get used to it and can increase the activity as your muscles strengthen

By habit I have always sat on the right of a bus or train and spend most of the journey looking out of the window.
I also tend to stand rather than sit when waiting.
This may have contributed to a discomforting pain which sometimes occurs between the left shoulder blade(back) to just behind the left ear.
I have had MSK specialists and physios for another issue and over the years their accumulated advice is:
- sit on the left sometimes
- avoid stress and engage in conversation/pleasantries
- avoid reading or using a mobile, particularly in an airline type seat
- drink liquid
