If it helps, Swanage Station shop sells OO gauge models as well as a good selection of books, DVDs and (I kid you not) Dorset Knob biscuits.
The Birds Nest Buffet has just been refurbished, so that's worth a try on the food front. If that isn't suitable the Red Lion is a good one for a pint, and I can tell you from experience that Butterfingers bakery is a Swanage loco crew favourite...
Thank you for that Pinkpanther, I will have to try a Dorset Knob!, I'll check out the shop at Swanage Station and the others you mention too.
I have just found out this train will be interesting, as instead of going from London Victoria or Waterloo, which would be normal for Swanage trains, this one is departing from Euston, so going north to go south. That will be some new track for me.

Rgds Steve.

I Went on the Swanage Steam Train from London yesterday, the Red Lion Pub was fine for food and drink. The running with the 2 locos was very good indeed, Oliver Cromwell outbound and Tangmere on the return journey which gave a really fast performance. Timings were very good throughout the day and the weather was great too, a really good day out.
