Wakefield Kirkgate!

DISCLAIMER: If I didn't say it, someone else would have!

(Admittedly it is part-way through a revamp-of-sorts. They could do with getting a shift on though!)

While I am aware it's just had it's booking hall refurbished, Ashford (Surrey) could do with a lick of paint on the exterior.

Though none of these issues will be solved by reporting them here... Complain to the TOC, Local MP, councillors, press, etc. All it takes is a 10 minute email these days.

Were advised that Nottinghamshire County Council are not very happy with the state of Retford Low Level Station, rebuilt in 1965 its of the concrete era, there is also a very poor connection ( open air footpath ) with Retford High Level station

The southern concourse at Leeds needs sorting. Just always seems to be a bit dark in there

Hmm i know quite a few. Both Wakefields (both in progress), Huddersfield (planned as part of TPE upgrade), all Virgin stations mentioned above (was that planned by First or Virgin in next franchise??), last time i was at Dore it was run down, but again that is getting upgraded soon too. Harrogate station always looks uninspiring to me. Many stations in West Yorkshire too.

Leeds is my least favourite station in the country, it is dark dingy and the sign posts are not great for the confusing platform layout. I was hoping the original idea of brining HS2 in over the top was taken forward so that they could start again! Problem is no way to do it without causing huge disruption so i think for now it is best left as it is.

To be fair WBQ has been improved downstairs. Virgin wants station upgrades but much of the work required will need more than a lick of paint. This will have to wait for the new franchise.

The 1960s concrete eyesore at Forest Hill. This monstrosity of a station building that replaced the original after bombing during World War II.

LO are planning some slight modifications such as extending the gateline and main entrance by removing windows, however for such a busy station, the building is unsuitable.

Tamworth. Given that it's an interchange between the WCML and the Cross Country routes, its waiting areas are horrid!

The station building at Romsey is in a very poor condition and needs attention.

Although a new ticket office and waiting room have been installed on platform 4 at Southampton Central, they're looking a bit shabby already, as are the toilets on Platforms 1 and 4. The footbridge can also get crowded: I'd suggest knocking down the concrete partitions separating the lifts from the stairs down to the platforms to encourage the use of any remaining space.

It's shocking how quickly the roof at Leeds has become caked in soot from diesel exhaust! Not much point in cleaning it until all the services planned to go electric do so though. When they dug the new stairway to the subway at Huddersfield they really should've made it wider and divided it between up and down.

Mirfield could do with being improved in some way, seeing as it's a popular interchange, more so now that Grand Central call there.

Altnabreac should go the way of Corrour and Snowden summit and have a cafe there. There are two deserted houses there just ready to be refurbished! :D

Good progress is being made on the platforms at Stafford, as observed today. I think the major issue at the moment is the standard of the footbridge. Dingy and out dated. Some see through windows would be great to watch the trains from, as you can do from the waiting area above platforms 4-5

I find the stations along the Seaford Branch rather depressing at times....there is a real element of neglet! All the stations around Newhaven could be done up, that includes the Town station and the Harbour....but especially the Harbour! (I'll leave the Marine out of this....;)) Also Bishopstone could do with some paint....

Redhill.
I was there last night and it looks like a dump! Boarded up bits, horrid grey sheet metal in places, and the whole place needs repainting at least

Chester!
As a County Town station, the trackside buildings are a disgrace, filthy (especially the platform toilets), and depressing.
OK, the new concourse is better, but you literally spend just seconds in crossing it.
