(Talking about Coombe Junction Halt)
Out of interest, I looked at the area on Google Maps. I couldn't help noticing the variation of vegetation was rather suggestive of there having once been some East-South chord long since lifted and overgrown. Did such a chord ever exist, or is it just coincidence? It occurs to me that if it was possible to put a chord there, that would presumably speed up services considerably (no reversing), perhaps allowing a clockface timetable. (And for the sake of making my post relevant to this thread, that would presumably imply actually closing Coombe Junction Halt).
From memory, trains that call at the station have to stop twice, once at the junction and then once at the platform.
