None of my 4 at home were interested in a station cat vacancy at Newtown when I started here in March. They've opted to stay at home and sleep all day.

There are still various animals knocking about the railways, with greater or lesser notoriety!
Not quite a cat, but Skegness station has had a mascot in the form of a beagle dog called Rupert for many years - he belongs to a volunteer from the community rail partnership.
The GCR at Loughborough has always had cats and still does - Stanier from the shed passed away a few weeks ago (one of several cats of that name to have lived there) along with a few others. The operations department also have a large female tabby by the name of Onslaught who lives in their building just off the north end of the platform. As is traditional on the railway she just turned up one day and made the place her own.
You'll upset Rupert calling him a dog. He'd be the first to point out that he's a hound.
