Pitlochry is another two-platformed passing loop station on a Scottish single line route at which both lines are fully reversible.
This should get things back on track.

Pitlochry is two stations from Perth on the Highland main line while Aviemore is two stations from Inverness.

From Oakham you can regularly get to Stamford which is in Lincolnshire and Melton Mowbray which is in Leicestershire. Bottesford is another similar station in that regard with Grantham being in Lincolnshire and Elton & Orston being in Nottinghamshire.
