Preston Park is also near a location where locomotives from the national collection were once stored.

Bromsgrove is also at the foot of a 1-in-37-ish grade.

Isn't St Davids tunnel marginally steeper than Lickey?

Sniped!

London Waterloo should not be confused with Waterloo (Merseyrail)

In a northerly direction, the Merseyrail Northern Line splits after Sandhills into the Southport and Ormskirk branches. Hall Road is the seventh station on the former; Maghull North is the seventh station on the latter.

Kirkby Stephen is another station for which the three-letter-code contains a letter not in the name of the station (MNS for Maghull North; KSW for Kirkby Stephen*)

*KSW makes sense, as it was once Kirkby Stephen West, though I'm not sure if there's any story for the S of Maghull North's code).

Not to be confused with Northumberland Park (London) which although not served by a Metro is located near a London Underground depot.

Chester station was designed by the architect Francis Thompson (1808 – 1895) and opened as a joint station in 1848. Thompson became the architect for the North Midland Railway in 1839, and designed 13 stations for the NMR, including Belper, Eckington and Ambergate.
