Ok this my not stand but Bedford, in the bond film tomorrow never dies both towns had a Royal Navy type 23 frigate named after them even though both names were fictional.

Arundel The Duke of Norfolk lives there, and the Type 23 frigates are named after duchys, (as in Duke of Bedford, they got that one right in the film)

Newark Castle a station with castle in the name that is next to a castle ( and a bous point to anyone who can work out an anagram of Newark <D )

Let us go for a really historical one this time....

Sherburn-in-Elmet was part of the Kingdom of Elmet, that was invaded and conquered in 616AD by Northumbria, as was Leeds.

Melton (Suffolk) also opened in the summer of 1984

Wolverhampton - also used be called "High Level" and no longer is.

Coventry - lady godiva (a fine lady) rode a horse through the streets of Coventry a similar thing is reputed to have happened in Banbury.
