Marlow

"Cambridge" was a fictitional detective in "Pie in the Sky" which was filmed around Marlow.

Tal-y-cafn in this case refers to the ferry pier, which was replaced by a road bridge.

Another place where this happened is Severn Beach where the Aust Ferry was killed off by the M4 (now M48).

Another treat for Welshman coming up......

Dalton is the station for Dalton-in-Furness and has a somewhat tenuous link to Barrow-in-Furness as there were connections to both from Furness Abbey prior to its dissolution in 1537. There is also another link in that both towns were connected by an ancient walk known as The Cistercian Way.

I'm sure I've done nothing to deserve all these little treats! :) :)

I'm struggling with this one, but let's try:-

Sandling

[Dalton-in-Furness was the birthplace of George Romney, the portrait painter. Sandling was also known as "Sandling for Hythe" and from Hythe you can enjoy the R H & D Railway to New Romney. Phew!]

The links are now becoming as convoluted as the Times crossword coupled with the deduction ability of Hercule Poirot, if railway links are ignored.......

Reading has a museum of English Rural Country Life ( run by their university), as does Sandling (Kent Life Rural Museum).

I think that railway connections are somewhat easier!!
