Dewsbury shares a similarity to Morley, in that both towns produced the type of woollen cloth called "shoddy" that was worn both by the Union and Confederate Armies in the American Civil War.

Despite the fact it never got to Barnsley, but ended at Stairfoot, it was still called the H&B!
